Hi All -
What an amazing week I've had so far. I'm almost afraid to post about it -
don't want a jinks.  Dare I say .......  I ....feel......normal!  Oh my
gosh! There I said it.  Well, normal with pain.  I've had such an incredible
energy rush all since my IVIG infusion on Monday I've been going like the
energizer bunny. I felt  washed out after I left from the infusion. But I
had a lot to do still that day so I had a triple espresso.  It's senior week
and we had a lot of activities for the boys on the Lacrosse Team that
started last week.  That culminated with a Senior Roast last night. The
Senior Game was the night before. I've worried for 4 years that I wouldn't
be able to walk across that field arm and arm with my son when the time came
but I made it. I didn't even cry. In the pictures I'm just beaming!  I felt
so proud of Nick. Little did I know he would make me even prouder when he
scored a goal in the last 5 seconds of the game! Maybe the way I'm feeling
is just a natural high from all these special senior events but maybe, just
maybe,  it's also the effect of the IVIG. I had so much to do yesterday
before the dinner at 5:00.  Normally in order to make it thru an evening
event, it meant laying low all day and definitely getting in a nap,
especially after the day before being a busy one with a game that night.
Not only did I have a very busy day with no nap, when I got home a 9:00pm I
was still going going going.

Here's how my day went - I had a doctors appt downtown at 11am, left at 1pm.
Stopped at my Mom's nursing home for a quick visit. Toured an extended stay
hotel for my out of town family to stay in when they come for graduation. By
now it's 3:pm. Went to another parent's house to make a poster for one of
the boys who didn't have one because of a death in the family; home at 4:30
to change and gather stuff to take to the school. Then get to the high
school to help set up and attend the Senior Roast.  Ok - So at this point I
should be cruising on pain meds and caffeine with a major cloud in my head
feeling rather disconnected from everything around me, wondering how I'm
going to make it through the next 3 hours.  But that didn't happen. I kept
going. I talked with the boys, walked around the room taking pictures, stood
in the buffet line myself, cut and served the cake and helped clean up the
room afterwards.  I felt totally present. Totally normal.  I know that
sounds strange to say but I don't know any other way to say it. I felt
NORMAL! We got home around 8:30 pm and I called my sister on the phone and
talked for an hour. Usually I'm too tired to even have a coherent
conversation at night.  While I talked to her I put clean clothes away,
finished putting groceries away that DH had shopped for earlier in the day,
put away all the scrapbooking supplies that had been out for the past few
weeks (3 of us Mom's  made a Senior scrap book for the ten seniors on the
team, each with 2 pages and had it professionally printed in full color.
It's Awesome!)  I finally went to bed around 12:30. And as you can see
...I'm up already. Wide awake.  I would say that last night the only part of
me that felt bad was my legs and feet were hurting. I'm retaining a lot of
water on the IV abx and its bad at the end of the day especially if I've
been on my feet alot. Seeing family dr about that today. I've got two more
weeks on them and this swelling has got to go!

My doctor told me yesterday that I would get an energy rush from the IVIG
that lasts about 3 weeks and then it wanes right about the time for the next
treatment. While they test the IGG levels each month before the next
infusion, he said it was encouraging that I had no side effects and felt so
well from it. He felt that was a good sign. I asked him for a name for what
I had and he said it was Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID) which is
what I thought based on the research I found over the weekend.  He suspects
we'll do this for 6 months to a year and then see how it goes from there. Oh
wow.

So I've typed enough.  I hear the alarm clocks going off.  Wayne & Nick will
be getting up for breakfast and to start their day. Maybe I'll go back to
bed a bit when they leave.  I've been up since 4!  I know that even though I
feel so great and have all this energy, I still have to take care of myself.
Eating, sleeping and not overdoing it are important. But I feel so great!
It's hard not to want to take advantage of it.

Thanks for listening to my raving! It feels so good to feel so great! I'm
just going to enjoy every minute of it while it lasts.

How awesome! Normal is so wonderful!!!! Enjoy it!

[Be careful, though. Lately, when I have felt normal and tried to get a lot
done is when I've done careless things that resulted in injury (like kitchen
accident....).]

Tears in my eyes. I will add that you shouldn't over do
it but then you know that. Hard not to when you don't
know when you will feel crappy again. Enjoy the buzz...
