she'd done a map of my bloodwork going back to 1998 and showed it to me.
geesh, my platelets and wbc have always been on the high-ish side, it seems.
rarely was my wbc at normal levels and platelets have never been anything
but high since then.

she said the recent wbc spike was a small one and might be attributable to
demarginalization (causing wbc's to re-enter my bloodstream) because of the
steroids (though 6 or 7 days out from the injection is questionable, but not
doubtful) or even stress (yes, well, i haven't done my income taxes
yet.LOL).

my temp was 97.6, glands normal, skin normal, kidneys ok (after thumping
them), eyes ok, no anemia, but no indication of any infection (after i
answered her litany of questions) and i feel ok.  she said my labs indicated
to her that we had been dealing with inflammation of my hand, but not
infection.

said if my wbc went to 18 in next month's labs, then she'd be more
concerned, because that would be definitely out of bounds for my normally
high counts.  sooo, we will do more labs next month and see.

sounds like my rd called unnecessarily?

Kate,

I'm glad everything turned out fine.  Hope it stays that way for a very
long time for you!!!

I do not think that your RD called unnecessarily though.   I think your
RD was on the ball and just making sure that everything is ok.   That is
a good thing.  Better safe than sorry.   It is important for all of your
doctors to know that your counts run out of whack with most peoples and
that it has been investigated and checked into!

Happy that you have good doctors who follow through on things and don't
just dust them under the rug!!!

Well that is good news. Still awaiting finding the note
on your next spinal doctor visit.

I don't know enough about these labs to say much, but I am glad that Kate has
docs who are checking things out thoroughly!  Heck, I haven't shown an
elevated wbc when we KNEW I had cellulitis pouring down my arm - though my
platelets were up.  Sounds like you're the flip-side of me.  It's good that
your docs are keeping an eye on things and that your pcp has a logical,
reasoned rationale for not being alarmed at this time.  Just take care and
don't let those wbcs hit 18!
