I have a small Bakers cyst behind my right knee, so the knee gets stiff
etc.
When I visited my RD the other day, I asked aboput the possibility of
steroid joint injection (I have had them before) and he said that he
didn't like the idea of injecting a joint while apatient was taking
Enbrel.
Has anybody else had this experience?

He surely does not speak for my RD. I will say that most of them have been
in my rear and not in a joint but I just had both my shoulders shot when
changing from Remicade to Enbrel.

Anytime you have an injection you have a small risk of infection. Infection
and enbrel do not go together. That might be the reason he doesn't want to
inject the joint - he might just want caution since the cyst is small.
Maybe....

I had my appendix out on cyclosporine with low neutrophils and had no
issues. If my (excellent) hip surgeon hadn't insisted I stop the
cyclosporine prior to the second hip replacement I'd be doing a lot
better than I am now. I think your RD is being overly cautious.
Cheers,
Ari

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:

I just had a finger injected last week. They never turn me down if I really
think I need it done. Trust me, they use plenty of betadine, too. There is a
very low risk of infection.

Hmmmmm..........my RD sure doesn't follow this line of thinking thank
goodness. I have had numerous steroid injections into joints since
starting on the enbrel. In fact, last time I saw my RD he injected
both shoulders for me.

I always have a steroid shot to get me through the summer. No problem
with Enbrel.

Thanks folks.
I can't force him to do it, but is is good to know that other RDs don't
seem to have the same inhibition.
