Hello there chaps and chapesses....
Long time no speak but I have been verrrrry busy with me boat! It's finished
enough for us to have started her first long voyage which takes just 40 mins
by road but 4 days by boat!!!
She is booootiful I promise and worht every minute of painters elbow (
tennis elbow but from all that varnishing) sailors knee ( housemaids knee
from all the fitting of the woodwork......hubby has got that)!!
we still have some finishing touches to complete like the doors on the
galley cupboards, trim around the flooring and a display cabinet/TV
stand/DVD holder thing to make.
It really has been hard work and very frayed tempers at times when HE
dropped the keys in the canal and HE didn't have a magnet to rescue them (
we borrowed one in the end.magnet that is). When HE decided that HE wanted
to not have the dinette instead HE having a compie deskette ( I call it
deskette because itr is soo tiny)!
All the stuff we had in storage after downsizing the belongings were still
far too many so it has been off to car boot sales, good old ebay, and giving
stuff away and there is still far too much.
I have had a black eye when I tripped over on the tow path and fell face
first. That lasted 3 weeks!! and now after todays trip I have a rather large
bruise coming up on my chest after some 14/15 year old B*****D threw a piece
of wood across the canal and hit me. He missed my dog though who was sat at
my side. Yes the police have been notified but doubt they `can do much etc
....Started this morning at 6.30 am with going through a flight of 30 locks
at Tardebigge.....that took 4 hours and my arms/back and neck really are
feeling the strain LOL...... Carried on to Birmingham where said assault
took place and am presently moored up somewhere along the BCN Birmingham
mainline and not intending to sleep for all the yob factor around here.
Oh we have had the boat name painted on, THUIS and the "logo" is a Dutch
clog sat on a quilt, We've experienced snow ice, gales, fog, and everything
else inbetween but have been very warm with our stove burning day and night.
The dogs have settled well to the boat and although Poppy can't get up on
the bed, Rupert cries until we lift him up!
Healthwise we have been pretty good apart from the knees and elbows and my
neck and shoulder, Anyway I should imagine that those reading have read
enough so will close for now hoping that each of you is having as much fun
as we are as we travel up to be closer to our Grandsons.
Speaketh soonest, Regards ConnieD

Connie, how nice to hear from you.  Sounds as if you two have really
put in a lot of work on your new home!  Glad that the dogs like it too.
Have they never jumped into the water?
Hope your chest won't be too sore.  Sure hope the one who threw the
piece of wood does get caught.  And I hope you now have a magnet of
your own!  I hope you will continue to enjoy life on the water for a
looonnnnggg time!

Connie, you can talk about that boat as much as you want, I love it. I'll
bet you were wishing you could grab that little bugger that hit you with the
stick, huh? I'd have put my money on you to come out on top in that one.

I hope you love your adventures and conitinue to share them with us for a
very long time.

Hugs,
Kelly C.

oh, connie, what fun to see your post on the day my hands'/wrists' synovitis
relinquished its persistence!  you made it a special day to be back on asa!

lordy woman, it sounds like you have a full crew, in addition to you and
your dh (housemaid, sailor, painters and all<g>).  not the kind of crew i'm
sure you want aboard, however.  so, for awhile, pitch them in the drink!
and lie back with a hot toddy and a warm fire to snuggle by and allow those
sore joints their well-earned rest.  4 days are gonna fly by.

as for the that teenaged malefactor who threw the wood at you, i hope they
catch him and make him do something productive with his time, for a long
while.  something like 2000 hours of community service work along the
canals, helping the people in the boats for a change.

enjoy your grandsons, connie, and your journey.

Good to hear from you again Connie, I have missed you.

I hope you heal quickly and don't keep having flares. I hope the worse of it
is over for you so that you can just enjoy sailing around.

The adventures continue!  Sounds like you all are finally reaching the point
where you can enjoy the fruits of all your hard labor.  Have loads of fun
living on the water and keep us posted!

Your storya bout the dogs reminds me of my sister's cat - where my mom's been
living while her house is rebuilt she has rather high beds.  It's enough of a
hassle for my short mother, butt when my sister came to visit with her cat it
was almost traumatic.  Poor thing would complain and complain and complain
that she couldn't jump up there.  They finally had to move chairs and tables
to convenient spots so she could use them to jump to the bed.  heehee
