I have decided I don't like CAT scans.  Anyway - the opthamologist called
today to say that the CAT scan showed no abnormalities whatsover.  No signs
of TIAs, no tumors, and no clots.  She asked if I had had any further
symptoms, which I haven't, so she wants to see me again just to make sure
she hasn't missed something.  I wish she could be my PCP because she's been
incredible on following up on every test I've taken so far.

Bottom line....another unexplained mystery that may never be solved.  Sigh.

well, no tumors, clots or TIAs is good, but that doesn't give you any excuse
for being such a nut  ;)

So glad it's looking like it's "just one of those things" and hopefully it
will never appear again.

Glad to hear that nothing serious was found and praying that the
symptoms never return and it was just a passing thing whatever it was!

DeeTee,

What the heck did they do to you that you don't like Cat Scans. Mine have
always been easy. As long as they give me the pre-meds so I don't have a
reaction. What did they do to our precious, kind and sweet DeeTee to make
her not like them. I will come back there and bop them for you. ;-)

That is good I think that you didn't show signs of a stroke. But now it is
the not knowing what is happening that is the problem. I hate that. I feel
for you and my heart goes out to you.

I am glad they are checking to make sure they didn't miss anything though.
That is a good thing.

I hope you keep us posted on how you are doing and how things are going.

Weeellllllll - I have short little legs and they had this tall table and
said, "Hop up and lay down."  I don't hop anymore, but I did manage to get
up there and lay down.  Then he puts my chin on my chest and says not to
move it.  This was 20 minutes before they turned on the machine!  Then he
tried to put an IV in my left arm and I thought the arm would fall off from
the tourniquet until he said he would have to try the right arm.  We repeat
the session on the other side.  Then he puts my arm across my belly and says
not to move it.  My shoulders by this time are complaining about having my
chin on my chest and now they have to hold my arm with no support.  THEN he
puts the IV medicine in after I tell them I am allergic to shellfish.  He
asked if I had ever had a contrast before.  I said yes because they did one
with an MRI once.  They looked at each other and said I should be fine.  The
IV was started and I got really hot really fast.  The test itself lasted
about 4-5 minutes and then he came and pulled out the IV and said I could
go.  I told him I needed help sitting up and, of course, my back by that
time (about 20-25 minutes of laying flat) refused to function.  I had to sit
on the bed for a minute and they looked at me like I was a freak.  Then I
"hopped" down with the aid of my cane.  I went down the hallway and sat in
the waiting room of the opthamology clinic which I had to pass to get to my
car.  I just sat there for about 15-20 minutes until my body realized I was
upright again and then was able to drive home.  It was certainly not the
most unpleasant test I've ever had, but it was not something I'm in a hurry
to repeat.

They meant well, so we'll forego the bopping this time.  Thanks, though.
Hugs, DeeTee

the most dreaded phrase in my family was so and so "meant well", dreaded
because none of us ever wanted that phrase applied to any of us.  we knew it
meant that somebody felt that a particular "so and so" was not with the
program.

truth is, your techs weren't paying attention, hon.  if they had been, they
would have been able to tell that you were not doing well with it,
accommodated your physical needs and would have heard you say you were
allergic to shellfish.  (((((((((deetee))))))))  i'm with sj, sweetie.  they
needed some kind of a virtual whack upside the head to wake them up, so that
they would be in the present moment, with the present patient.  heck, that's
why so many people die in hospitals when they shouldn't have.

i'm sorry it went that way for you, sweetie, on all counts, including and
especially no answers.  it's discouraging and disappointing to go through so
much and come out of it with nothing to show for your inconvenience, time
and what you had to endure.   as others have said, hopefully, there are no
reruns of the episode that put you through all this and that it was a
passing thing.   maybe and hopefully, it really was just one of those weird
and transient viruses.

It sure sounds like they did not treat you right at all. I would have been
so ticked and let them know about it too. ;-)

If you have an allergy to shellfish they should have premedded you before
doing the scan. They always do me. But then again, i have the allergy and
also asthma that could be a major problem if I had a reaction so maybe that
is why they do me.

I feel for you and my heart goes out to  you that you had to go thru that. I
wish it would have been a better experience for you.

Well, I don't think it was the Cat Scan but the
operators of the scan. What jerks. Be sure to tell
which ever doctor ordered it exactly how it went. They
should know what jerks are running the machinery. You
should have just laid there until they helped you up. ugh

Oh - he did help me up.  He came over and held out his arm and I grabbed and
pulled.  But what confused them was that I just sat there once I was up.
Then I said, "I'll need my cane."  and he realized what I had been trying to
say to him and he went over and got my cane, helped me down and held my coat
for me.  They were trying to be helpful but it was as though they hadn't
done any gimps before and couldn't understand.  They were both about 15
years old.  Okay - maybe 20.  LOL

I still would tell someone. They need to learn and if
not called on the carpet for it, how will they. Just
got the manager of the drugstore calling me about the
small issue I had yesterday when I try to tell the
higher store manager that they needed to do something
about the wheelchair carts or lack of them. I called
the lower manager a bitch, which she is, and he
dismissed me out of hand. Mike the drugstore manger
called to see how I was. Said he found out who it was
and knows that is not like me which means I was in pain
and provoked. He knew something was up so I told him
all about it. He was headed to upper upper management
after the phone call. Telling the lower manager that
the cart is broken week after week after week gets me
nowhere. The handicap are waiting turns for the one
working cart and yesterday, when the lady who was using
it got off and I on, I discovered it was out of power.
By the time I had nursed it around the store, picking
up the few items I needed plus John's drugs, I was even
in more pain and tired. the upper manager is lucky I
didn't call him names. idiot. I spent $315 this month
on my drugs and another $30 on John plus any groceries
we buy. But if they don't need my business....  Mike
was going to go call him names for me. sigh...
You just got to tell someone. Print out what you wrote
and take it in to your next appointment.
