Finally got that call I was waiting for from the
infusion clinic. She said so the doctor is switching
you and I said no, I'm getting both. Big surprise on
her part so we agreed she would call the RD's office to
confirm that I wasn't crazy and then call me back.
Well, RD didn't confirm the crazy part but did tell her
that yes I was to take both. I also am taking Arava.
So I have the Rituxan scheduled for four weeks in a row
starting two weeks after my next Remicade. We are
shoving the Remicade up from next Friday to next
Tuesday. That allows the Rituxan to start sooner. My
poor body needs something. So now I have some hope in
front of me.
Sometimes, that is all it takes. Hope.

wow, duckie, this is exciting! how many mg of remicade are you on now?
i will probably be following you in this regimen when my doc gets a
load of my fingers and ankle in a couple of weeks.
hugs,
diane
Duckie - 08 Apr 2005 04:56 GMT
I am at 6 week recall instead of 8 and it is only
lasting 4 and fading at 3 so I hurt. Ankles slightly
swollen but nothing swells much on me. Tendons are
screaming first the elbow, then ankle, then some other
place. Wait a minute and it will change.
So 6 weeks at 5 mg per kilo of body weight. I think you
are at 10mg per kilogram of body weight but still at
the 8 weeks schedule. Tell you doctor that mine is
adding Rituxan to the rest. Dr. Paul Delleripa at Lahey
Clinic in Burlington, MA He can find him on line if he
wants to talk. :)
Would love to have you with me.

duckie, i'm "only" on 8 mg/kilo, but the nurses always mention what a
"whopping" dose i'm getting, so i guess i'm a rarity. as usual. i feel
much better than i look. my ankle/foot revoltingness is from a lot of
previous damage. at least that's what i tell myself.
keep us posted,

Ah. sorry. wonder where I got the idea you were at 10.
Of course, Chrone's [sp] patients have a really high dose.

Good luck Duckie I sure hope this combo works for you! You are brave
I don't think I would do both Remicade and Rituxan. You have amazing
insurance was it hard to get it approved? Seems like they might call
it experimental. Keep us posted on how this works, and especially any
reactions to the rituxan. -- MZ

I called the insurance company and they said that since
it was medical and not pharmacy it would be covered.
Lahey is a hospital with doctor's offices. It is an
oddity but works and I have found it easy to get things
done department to department. I have been lucky.
I am guessing the two week pause from Remicade to
Rituxan is for safety. Got my fingers crossed. The
infusion room nurses have told me that any reaction
happens while you are getting the drug. That is good to
know. Hope they are right.

Duckie,
Sure hope this is the extra boost you need and that the rituxan will do
the trick for you! Very anxious to hear your reports of how things
go!!! Now, give you body at least a little time to let the new med
work and lay off that housepacking for just a day or two!

My office is 75% packed. The pods will be picked up
tomorrow. Helene is coming in the morning to finish
some of that and then help me pack the china to be
shipped. I have found a buyer. yippee. Depending on the
time she has left, we will attack the laundry room.
Tuesday is Remicade, Wednesday is all sorts of me time,
pedicure, manicure, facial. Thursday is PT and Dr visit
to see results of MRI. So no packing until Friday. Got
my fingers crossed that we will know by thursday if
Sunday the 17th will be ready for our first open house.
I am excited but nervous as well. I hope someone loves
this house as much as I have.
