Kelly Cobb - 05 Apr 2005 03:41 GMT Hey everybody, first an apology for not being around much, at least not visibly. I've been checking posts every day and sending love and good wishes to all that need them, but haven't really felt up to participating much.
I'm having a problem with the middle finger on my right (dominant) hand. The middle joint has been actively inflamed for a month and shows no signs of improvement. My next RD appt. is for the 25th but I called today to see if I could get in this week for an injection. Success...Weds. at 2:45. I have a couple of other problem areas, too but none as bad as the finger.
Over all, I'm fearing that Enbrel may be fading out on me and I don't want to start up on MTX again, which will probably be what the Dr. will want to do. I'm having a lot of fatigue and random pains, very similar to what I felt when first experiencing the symptoms of RA. I hate it very much and it makes me really sad. (this is the whiny part) Work has been pretty stressful lately, too and I guess I'm just really feeling beat up and suffering from some 'woe is me'.
On the bright side, Rachel is doing really great and hasn't had a seizure in almost 10 months now. That one thing can make me smile every time I think about it.

Gwen Love - 05 Apr 2005 03:58 GMT Really good news about Rachel. Happy for all of you. Hope the finger will be okay after the injection and you get all the other stuff taken care of also. Gwen

Second. I'm just thrilled about Rachel doing so well. Makes me smile too.
Third. I know only too well just how much a stupid finger can hurt. It took me forever to talk anyone into injecting mine. And I think the ortho was just doing it to humor me when he finally did. But it is already so much better. Doesn't mean it isn't better because its just run its course, I know. Hope you can get some help for yours ASAP. In the mean time sending good wishes that you have more luck than I do trying not to thwap the sore finger on everything in sight.

Kelly Cobb - 05 Apr 2005 04:25 GMT > First I love the sig line > [quoted text clipped - 9 lines] > > Jo I have to say that my RD's office is excellent about trusting their patients when they think they need injections. Probably because we tend to put them off longer than we should, thinking it'll just go away on its own.
You know, this one finger wouldn't even bother me much if it weren't for the fact that the entire hand is bothering me a bit and some days a LOT. I also have an irritated tendon running down the outside of the palm. The whole hand will wake me with pain sometimes and I really need this had to work properly for the next couple of weeks while I cover for a coworker.
I'm hoping the finger injection sort of helps the whole hand, but will be sure and tell the Dr. about the problems I'm having...even if I don't think I'll like his response.
Hugs, Kelly C.-I like the sig. line, too...thanks!;o)
Duckie - 05 Apr 2005 04:58 GMT The last part makes me smile too. Such good news. Now to you, gentle hugs lady. I too am flaring and the doctor has chosen to add Rituxan. He supposedly was writing the orders and the infusion clinic was to call but they have not. Called them today instead and they have had no orders so I called the office and got a machine. They had to have been there cause after hours, the switchboard of the hospital takes over and you can't leave messages. So I left a message. Maybe tomorrow they will call. Of course, I have to see my surgeon tomorrow for a well baby check up on my new knee. While there I am going to mention the left hip and the left knee that are giving me trouble now. grumble. Might just wander over to that department. Oh sorry, I am taking your whine and didn't mean to. Guess we are both sitting in that boat at the moment and frankly after someone gives you your life back, you just really hate it when Arthur tries to gain ground again. I mean the frigging nerve of him... BTW, my first hand surgery was the middle finger of my left hand. I think that was first. Might have been the left wrist but I don't think so. Loosing count now. Just don't have a wish to loose more. Fatigue and random pains is the same here. And I am trying to pack this house on top of it all. enjoy your injection on Wednesday. Here is hoping that it travels to the rest of your body and gives you a respite from the fatigue as well. We need to be better for June. :) Duckie

I'd be a blob in the corner by now, rocking and holding my knee!LOL
Oh yeah, I'm gonna get me all lubed up and ready for gimpfest. I've already taken the days off from work and just need to make a reservation. I can only afford to stay one night and haven't decided whether to do Friday or Saturday. Any suggestions? I can drive up any time, but want to stay over one night so I don't feel like I missed everything.
Kelly C.
Duckie - 06 Apr 2005 04:10 GMT Why don't you make reservation for Saturday and drive up for Friday. Just might be a floor or someplace softer that might accidentally be available. wink wink Duckie

Duckie - 06 Apr 2005 04:54 GMT Jen will be with us. She's a kindergarten teacher and handle just about anything... No that is not true, she is not joining us until the next week. But not to worry... We will all think of something. Duckie

Harvey R. Stone - 06 Apr 2005 13:26 GMT > Awesome...how do you feel about 10 year olds who can't shut up?LOL > > Kelly C. Hi Kelly, I feel everyone of them is different and should be listened to,,, really listened to. 10 year olds have questions that need to be answered the right way and they may not know how to ask for help. Harv

I was just joking. Trust me when I tell you that we have a very open line of communication that we are working very hard to make sure stays open as long as possible. There are very few subjects that are off limits.
We are just going through a phase where Rach thinks she's a grown up and can sass back a little too much. It's just been one of those weeks. I'm sure you remember those.:o)

Harvey R. Stone - 07 Apr 2005 00:55 GMT > We are just going through a phase where Rach thinks she's a grown up and > can [quoted text clipped - 3 lines] > > Kelly C. No,,,,,, but I do remember years. :-) I do remember not having the answers at times. Sometimes life just has to be lived and lessons are learned best when they came the hard way. With one of my daughters,,, keeping the door open came with a high price. We have to remind ourselves that its their life to be lived by them and step back. Harv

Just remember I am a boater who camps all the time so I have some really comfy foam air mattresses I can pack along (about 4-5 inches thick with foam inside). I don't mind sleeping on the floor with that pad. It does not deflate because of the high density foam. I will take it along so there will be extra space.
Now here this Duckie and Kelly we want you both healthy and nearly gimp free so tell your Docs to get cracking! Duckie we need you healthy for that raft trip, but don't worry you will not have to hold on tight. Incidentally I need Jen's address I am making a surprise for you could you e-mail it to me? Is it June yet? I was thinking it would be fun to do the Gardens one day and maybe a winery or 2 the next day, but it depends on how many drivers/riders we have. I heard a preference for Gardens and wineries when I asked before. I thought most wineries would be open on the weekends, but I will call in advance. We probably need to round out the itinerary by mid-May so if you have preferences let me know.

Don't worry, Mary...I'll be there both days, but only probably bring Rachel and/or Brett for one of them. I would be more than happy to ferry people around. We need to come up with a plan, though. If I bring the Lincoln it would be easier for the more limber folks to get into. In the Mustang I could only take someone in the front seat. The back is not made for adults, unless they're very short, thin and extremely flexible. Doesn't describe too many of us, does it?lol
Heck, in the Lincoln, I could put a couple in the trunk the thing is so huge.:o)

Duckie - 06 Apr 2005 23:13 GMT Sent you an email via a different email address. I plan on being better by June. :) Easy for me either or both gardens and winessss. I will do what I am able to do. Right now walking is not high on my list but seems to me a walk fast for a gimp and slow for normal people. Duckie

Alix M. Hall - 07 Apr 2005 15:29 GMT Someone asked me the other day if I could see the difference over time in my health----DUHHHHH.....Each time something flares--or I have an issue--I seem to come back at a slightly lower level of function. After over 30 years of this, you would think I would be used to it---but NOOOOOOO --I see your whine Kelly, and yours Duckie--cheese and chocolate offered lovingly--

Duckie - 08 Apr 2005 03:47 GMT Thanks Alix and accepted with some grace -- I hope. Duckie

You're so sweet...thanks. Hugs and chocolate to you, too. I hope you are also soon feeling better. It seems we're all having some sort of flare or another.
