Off Celebrex/Asthma Flare?

Wondering . . . I was on Celebrex 200 mg. 2 x per day for about a year (for
osteoarthritis in feet and hands).  Got cold feet due to the recent warnings
and went off of the drug.  Within a week, I got a nasty sinus infection,
which, of course, affected my asthma.  That was three weeks ago, and I'm
still coughing and hacking, even after being on a round of antibiotic and
steroid burst from the allergist.

What I'm wondering is have any of you experienced this sort of thing when
you've gone off Celebrex, or do you think it was just a coincidence that I
had the sinus infection/asthma flare?

Hi Karen,   IMO,,,, there is no connection between Celebrex and your sinus
infection.   Now, if you are taking one of the newer inti-tnfs as a DMARD or
even the older DMARDs there could be a tie in.

Harvey:  Thanks for the response.  Sinus infection is cleared, but I'm
still trying to kick the asthma flare.  This just seems to be a mighty
strange bug, not to be kicked by now.  Never had a flare that felt
quite like this, so it had me wondering.  Thanks!

My son got a similar bug in January. His asthma hasn't bothered him since he
was around 10 and it really flared it up this time. Of course, he was
running for Lacrosse and the weather was cold which didn't help but he had
to go on a daily med for it.  In fact, he stopped the Advair and is still
hacking. I can't get him to use it regularly.  Need to work on that.  It's
been a partcularly  bad bug going around. I took 5 rounds of oral abx.  3
different types and it wouldn't cut it. Now on IV abx with a picc line for a
month trying to get rid of it.  Hang in there!

Thanks for your feedback.  It does sound as if it might be the same bug.
The allergy/asthma specialist told me he's never seen people as sick as
they've been this year, from February up until now.  I am going to go back
in to see him to see what else we can try to get it knocked.  Hope you guys
get some relief soon too!

Thanks, again!
