................by some kind of cold/flu/virus thang.  I've had this
lousy cough since last week, but I woke up yesterday morning with the
worst head cold mess.  Needless to say, I called in sick.  As much as
I'd be rather useless at work, I'm sure no one really wants me there,
anyway.  :-\

I didn't take Enbrel on monday because of the cough.  My next day to
take it is tonight, but I'm going to skip it again.  I do not want to
deal with an infection problem from the Enbrel, obviously.  But, given
the lousy flare I had been in last week, I gotta say, I'm a bit worried
about skipping two doses.

I finished the pred burst a few days ago.  And my elbows are now hurting
again.  Also, because of the coughing, I have this new pain in my right
ribs.  Scares me, because it's reminiscent of the pain I had from either
a broken rib (not bad enough for that, though), or worse, a recurrence
of the adhesions that were removed when I had my gall bladder removed.
Likely though, it's just a rib inflammation from the coughing, so I'm
not going to get hysterical yet.

Anyway, I'm home, still in my jammies, which I will not change out of
anyway, and sitting at my computer cuz I just called in sick again.  I
guess this post is just a whine.  And, a hello.  <g>

(p.s. Thank you, Patty!)

Di - I know what it's like. Cause that's what I had - twice.  I went back on
the Enbrel too soon cause we were going to Mexico and I wanted my joints to
be in good shape.  I think that contributed to this monster infection I
have. So.....don't start back too soon!  I've gone as long as three weeks
before I noticed a difference.  Hang in there. Fluids, sleep and such. You
know the drill.  Long distance cyber hugs at ya!

(((((((Di))))))))))  rest and feel better soon.

and don't worry too much about the rib pain - all that coughing can irritate
an area that's still sensitive from an old injury without actually
re-injuring it.

Oh I forgot Di - I had that rib pain from coughing so much too. Here's
what I did, cause the expectorant they gave me made me cough all the
more, and I really wanted to cough it up but it hurt so dang bad I was
avoiding it. Which isn't a good thing. So I put a small pillow on the
kitchen counter and leaned over it where the rib pain was and then I
coughed. The pressure on the ribs from the leaning and pillow made the
coughing bearable and I was able to cough it up and out. And the sink
was right there. Of course, being that it was the kitchen sink, I had
to then keep the bleach nearby.....germ phobic and all that.
Try i!

I did the pillow thing, sans spitting, when I broke my rib a few years
ago.  Not much I could do when I sneezed when my vertebrae was
fractured.  But, you know all about that, unfortunately..........

Thanks, Nann.  I have been resting.  I've also been sneezing my brains
out.  Severe wracking sneezes.  I know I pulled a muscle in my left rib
now.  So, at least I'm now symmetrical.  :-\

The coughing has subsided, but my lungs are still kind of congested.
this really sucks.  I'm skipping Enbrel tonight, for sure.  I don't need
a bad infection.  Tomorrow, I may even try to go to work.  I'm starting
to feel guilty..............

Do you hvae access to a steamroom somewhere?  I so love those for clearing
out that congestion.  steamy showers are good too, but one can only take so
many showers in a day.

Or you could try standing on your head for 5 minutes every hour---- the
gravity should help clear it out.  ;)

Hi Nann,,,,,  I have had to stop going to the gym and the thing I miss most
are the steam room and whirlpool.   I had an ear, eye, nose and throat
specialist tell me that by breathing through my nose while in there,  I
would be killing 15-25 percent of the germs in that area that cause colds
and other germs sinus problems which I have had none of since doing that.
My colds and flue were almost non existent.   Having said that and stopped
my gym use,,,, I have had nothing but trouble.
I could be just a kowink a dink or I don't know what.  It just is the way
things are.
So it goes.

I hear ya Harv!  We're off to visit in Gainesville tomorrow and I'm looking
forward to being back at our old gym for a week or so.  (Mike's good at
talking them into giving us a pass when we're down there)  Just thinking
about sitting in that steamroom.......  ah...........

oh, and I'll get regular exercise again for a few days anyway.  This business
of living 25 miles away fromt eh gym isn't working out too well for us so far
:)

So sorry you've been hammered so hard with this bug you have.   Sure are
some awfully nasty and very persistant bugs going around this year!
Praying that you'll get to feeling better real soon and that the
congestion, cough, and chest discomfort clear quickly!

Hang in there!!!

Thank you, Donna.  I am feeling somewhat better, though I still have a
minor cough.  I went to work today, for the first time since last
tuesday.  So much catching up to do, I didn't even know where to start.
I hate when that happens.

I didn't call my RD today, so I don't know whether to resume my Enbrel.
I think I will, though.  I seem to not have any kind of bacterial
infection, in that this all seemed like your run-of-the-mill virus,
which just ran its course.  I am definitely on the mend.  :-)
