I guess it's not unexpected but my RA is really really flared up not
that I'm on the third day of IV abx.  I remember those folks on abx
therapy for RA have talked about it getting worse before it gets better
-- do you think that could be the reaction I'm getting or is it the 3
months without Enbrel just catching up with me?  The back of my hands
(opposite the palm) are red like a bruise and hurt soooooo bad. Both
ankles are swollen to the point where the tendons snap when I'm on them
for too long and my legs want to fold under me. After only 3 days of
this antibiotic!  Maybe it means it will work good on the RA after the
pain goes away?  What does the abx protocol suggest for this phase?
Wasn't there a website about it?  Oh boy. This is not what I need.

Have you called your RD? You might need a little something to get you by
until you can get the Enbrel again.
You sure have been through the wringer lately. I am sorry you are having
such a bad time. I was hoping you would be feeling a bit better today.

Yeah! Been there, done that. It's called a JH reaction by some docs. It's
named after two docs who first noted it. I found out about it when I was
first researching whether this was Lyme Disease.

Every joint hurt and some muscles got weak. Lasted for a few days (a week?),
then slowly eased up. I spent a lot of that time just laying *very* still
with my feet propped up cause my hips and knees were do uncomfy. Went
through my stash of T3's. Someone here suggested asking for some pred to get
me through the flare, but the doc said no. RD had no sympathy for the pain
so I deep sixed him and started going to Duckie's RD.

Sometimes ice packs helped. Sometimes hot showers felt even better. Sorry to
not be very helpful. But hoping this eases up soon!

Gentle hugs!

Can't really say which reaction is going on with you, but I know my RA/PA is
often worse in the first few days of getting over another bug.  My theory is
that my immune system revved up to beat down the bug and once it got on top
of the bug it remembered about attacing my joints.  And if I've been off
DMARDs, it has even less to keep it away from those joints.

I think the antibx site is roadback.org, though I can't swear to it.
