I ambled into this group several weeks ago, after two + months of severe
arthritis pain. I say "severe," but actually almost a lifetime of
hurting here and there.
You welcomed me (but someone took my chocolate supply!). Then I
developed that dreadful flu that seems to be "going around."
I WILL be back, as soon as I feel a bit better! In the meantime, take
very good care of yourselves!

Here, Renee, you can have my chocolate. I prefer hard candies anyway.
Welcome to our group and don't breathe on anyone until you're over the flu.
Have a cup of hot chocolate on me.

Sorry to hear you had the flu, Renee. That's the pits.
And do watch your chocolate around here. It's never safe so don't leave
it alone, even for a minute :))))
Hugs,
Carole

Hi Renee,
Sorry to hear you've been sick. Hope you get to feeling better real
soon!
Welcome here to the group. I think maybe half of your chocolate was
already stolen over in the lung group long before you came over
here------LOLOLOL!!!
Renee, what type of arthritis have you been diagnosed with? Is it RA?
Am trying to remember what you post during roll call each month over in
the lung group!
Anyways, feel better and join in when ever you like!

Renee, just hang in there. Our pastor's wife had that flu that kept
making return visits with her not feeling really well in between times
so someday you'll feel better.
Gwen, I'm not Donna but I know what lung ng she's talking about. It's a
WebTV (now called MSNTV) only firewalled newsgroup. The URL is
news:alt.discuss.med.lung-disease but you have to have WebTV/MSNTV (not
the MSNTV 2 that's being advertised) to access it. I have a WebTV and I
post in that ng. Had the WebTV before I had the computer.

I have osteo -- in most joints! Getting old is the pits. What am I
saying? I've had this problem for 40 years -- just not this bad!
It has been raining like crazy in CA, and that doesn't help, does it?
Question: I was reading a book yesterday and came across this
statement: "She swallowed three aspirin dry, something that those with
arthritis learn early." Am I missing something? Is it better to
swallow meds without water? Or did she do it just because she was in a
hurry? Help me out here, guys!
As for the lung group -- they are (at least one of) the best! I say
that even though they DID rob me of my chocolate stash!
My Dr. is putting me on "an" arthritis diet. Very strict. If I can
make it through Easter, maybe I can stay on it a while!
Hugs and -- sincerely -- very best Easter wishes.

Just the thought makes my mouth pucker. It tastes so bad. It is usually
advisable to take meds with a full glass of water so they get to the stomach,
instead of sticking half way down the esophagus.

Hopefully chocolate is included in the diet. Otherwise I would avoid it. :-)

Long ago I learned how to toss just about any pill against the back of my
throat and swallow it without water. Even dry powdery aspirin. And without
tasting it either. It was a necessity back when no one carried water bottles
around and water came from fountains.
If anyone reads Reader's Digest. The new one has a "perfect meal" with
plenty of anti oxidants. That includes red wine, salmon, and quite a large
serving of dark chocolate. I promptly found and finished my chocolate bar
that I'd been rationing to an ounce a day.

That's an understatement. <g> Friday, Mary and I were about
halfway through L.A. when the skies opened. And it continued
all the way to Bakersfield and on into Saturday evening.
Sunday was clear for the trip to Tehatchapi, where is appears
the railroads had a washout of tracks. Eastbound trains were
backed up for miles west of town. We had lunch and continued
on 58, where we spotted a large crew laying new rails. And
more trains backed up westbound.
Still pleasant weather into Boron, where we stopped at the
visitors' center and learned all we ever wanted to know about
borax, including the original discovery in Death Valley, the
20-mule-team trail through the Mojave Desert, and discovery
of borax in Boron. The list of products in the home containing
borax is practically endless - soaps, TV & computer parts,
fiberglass and wallboard, etc. etc. etc. etc.
Stayed in Barstow Sunday evening and continued south early
Monday, still with very nice weather.
Then the skies opened up Tuesday PM, continuing Wednesday,
today and Friday. But we're promised clearing for the weekend.

For 7-1/2 years in the 1990's I dated a gal who took all her OTC
pills dry....and she had no disease or other physical problem.
I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis in 1977 and I've
never learned to do that, so the statement in the book is not
100% true.....probably not even10% true.

Hi Renee! That dreaded flu has been setting back lots of folks. Around here
they all seem to relapse just as they think they are recovering. I hope you
are well soon. It's miserable stuff.
