Hi,
I just wanted to let everybody know that I tried the new techniques given to
me by the RN last week regarding how to avoid pain and stinging when
injecting the 50mg. First off, I iced the site for about 2 or 3 minutes and
thumped the surface of my skin a couple of times to help bring the
capillaries to the surface. When I took the rubber stopper off there was
already a drop at the end of the needle so I used my alcohol wipe to wipe
that off, then carefully turned to other half of the wipe to wipe sterilize
the site. I fanned my skin until it was nice and try and then I gave it a
good jab and the needle went in and I DIDN'T feel a thing! HALLELUIA, I was
half way home!
Once I started plunging the medicine in, it did burn, but only while I was
injecting the medicine. There was no burning after removing the needle like
I had before. I thought to myself, at least this seemed to be about a 50%
percent improvement overall. No pain to stick and no buring upon
extracting, only burinng while injecting and even then it may not as been as
bad as bad as before. I remember that I didn't say ouch, ouch, OUCH like I
had always screamed before.
Anyway, I ust wanted to give everybody an update. It's certainly not as
convenient as Amgen had us believe, it still takes the same amount of time
from start to finish as the 15mg, but certainly endorse this method. :)
I'll finish my box and see whether or not I will stick with the 50mg or go
back to the 2- 25mg. injections. But tonight I feel a little better about
it.

That's all good to hear. Glad the suggestions she had helped you so much.
It's a shame not everyone who has called Amgen was able to get the person you
talked to! (but thanks for sharing with us what she told you)

I've done two so far and the burning while injecting is by far the worst
part. I have had to stop the plunger twice during the process to let the
burning subside. It is far more intense than Amgen led me to believe.
