I have heard nothing about it.

In fact, I have received nothing from the AF in a year except
more than a dozen solicitations for more $$money$$.  The
arrive like clockwork, like record/book club notices.

I renewed last February, my check cleared the bank that month,
and in May I was still receiving Arthritis Today cancellation
notices.  I will never renew until there is a shakeup at the local
chapter.

I agree -- it seems like I get at least one solicitation a month from AF.
Sometimes more.
These continued pleas have really soured any good thoughts I may have
previously had for them and what they do.
Youre right -- it doesnt matter if you've just sent them a check, their
pleas just keep coming.
What really annoys me is their fake attempt to personlize the messages by
taking your address and claiming their $'s will go directly to help everyone
in <put your city/location here.>.
Well, I would know if they were doing anything to help in my community,
events etc., and I've never heard of anything.

I got another just today about giving more so more research can be done.
I'm all for helping, but maybe they could cut contributors a price break
when these research projects turn into product... no they just want to
charge us thousands a month.

Sorry for venting,... but it seems like its not a local chapter thing its
probably nationwide.

Arthritis walk? Havent heard of it either... but I can bet its nowhere near
here.

scottie, the national walk is in may and you participate thru your local
chapter by forming or joining pledge teams. info can always be found at
their web site.
For what its worth the primary sponsor this year is Aleve. all that
extra cash from sales due to the cox-2 fiasco???

Everything is handled thru local chapters. we have historically had a
good one in southern arizona. lots of good people. the quality of the
humans involved is what makes it work irregardless of anything the
'national chapter' is up to.

Have you ever tried to get involved with your local chapter? the only
way it works is when those of us that can 'do'.

i certainly have mixed feelings about the 'national chapter's' approach
sometimes.
i feel they are a bit too cozy with the pharmaceuticals.

I learned a bit about htis when I was volunteering at the Massachusetts
chapter.  One big problem with the AF is that the local and national lists
are not fully integrated.  The local chapter was very good about removing
folks from the frequent mail-out list when so requested.  But National would
still send out solicitations and local would catch the blame for it.  And
local had difficulty getting national to take folks off their list.  It was a
source of great frustration for the people in the Mass chapter.

There was talk from national about a new, improved computer system to come,
but as far as I know it hasn't happened yet.  As much as I was impressed with
the Mass Chapter folks, I was equally unimpressed with the operations of
national.  I stick to the minimal donation to the AF and give my larger
donation to the National Psoriasis Foundation.

I gave up on those people. I still get requests for
money and it has been three years since I renewed.
Think of all the money they are wasting.
If I want a copy of the magazine, I pick it up at my
doctor's office.

aren't any near me.  For that matter, the weather can still be pretty iffy
here in May.  All the walks in MI are in the southern part of the state.  :)
