These OTP and "Larry" posts are a nuisance for peole using a web
interface. The entire first page is these moronic posts. Can someone
wipe them off? Can you block the IP address that is positng them?
Thanks,

This is Usenet, not a web site. Spot the difference and win valuable prizes!
RhondaM - 06 Mar 2005 18:13 GMT
Larry was a dear member of this group who passed away and firechief post
some very interesting stuff that several people like to see. If you do not
want to read them then block them.

Kimmy, you made me think of the time Larry put a whole bag in a theater type
popper, and it just kept multiplying!

Gwen, I was just thinking of Larry's story about the popcorn. It was so
funny. I sure do miss him.

We'd consider accepting a "Whoops, Sorry" right about now in order to
disregard this social faux pas.
But it'll cost you one cheezy joke and a Google Groups Search and research
paper on BBay Larry...
2 pages, Single space, 12pt Times New Roman.
no pictures.
followed by a paper on "How Usenet Works"
You are dealing with people who have been posting together like this for
years. We know each other sometimes better than our own families. Please do
not make the mistake of thinking the way you are.

UV, your response is too funny!
K, stick around. just ignore what you don't want and enjoy the rest.

;-) I recall many moons ago sending a post similar to yours. Luckily
those people forgave me and we are all (well mostly) friends now. This
is usenet. Read about it and learn how it works. If these types of
posts are impossible for you to deal with, then for gods sake use a real
newsreader instead of the silly web based google account!
Tony - who just used gmail, a product of google, to send this post. But
I'm also using Mozilla and gmail's pop access, so I don't see the google
crap anyway.
Mozilla is free, and there was a free news server in Germany but they
will soon be charging about $1.20/month. Or maybe you have a real news
server and don't know how to make it work with gmail? There is info
telling you how to set up a pop account on the gmail website. Let me
know if you need more information.

The answer is probably yes but then we have to think of the loss of a friend
that brightens nearly everyone's day. It would be better to get rid of

[This followup was posted to alt.support.arthritis and a copy was sent to
the cited author.]
This is an on-line support group.
We share info on arthritis and other health problems and also ask others
for advice on the same.
We also vent our fears, frustrations and pains and receive sympathy, hugs
and cuber-chocolate so that we have a better chance of accepting things
when they get to be too much.
Like any support group, we also share anecdotes, recipes and what some of
us think is humor. When we post something which is not related to
arthritis we preface the subject with "OTP" to let others know that this
post is an "Off Topic Post".
Coming here helps us realize that we are not alone. That there are other
people who understand what we are going through.
Some of the people who used to come here, and who we cherished, have
passed away. Larry was one of those. He shared humor thoughts advice,
and, most of all, his heart. Re-telling stories about him brings a warm
glow and a tear to many of his cyber-friends; and reminds us not to take
Life too seriously because you won't get out of it alive.
Harvey R. Stone - 07 Mar 2005 14:14 GMT
Well said Bones and what you have said just about covers it. It is the
reason that the get to gathers work so well. We get to put a face on the
many words from a person and the truth of it is that inflam.arth make take
this person from us and we are never ready for that.

You must be in a great deal of pain to not enjoy the
humor found in the Larry posts. Are you using Web TV?

you can, if you want to. we won't want to.
Can you block the IP address that is positng them?
you can, if you want to. we won't want to.
larry was a hero here. he was an arthritis warrior who gave and gave of
himself and kept on giving until and through the very last of his days, the
last of his moments, the last of his breaths, of his material possessions,
of his love for others, from his heart to others. larry lost is battle and
his life, but never lost the love and respect he gained here. and he never
will. what you see as moronic, we see and feel as connection to someone we
don't want to forget.
and if you hang around here long enough and share as much of yourself with
us as larry did and care about us as larry did, and leave us as larry did,
we might just be reposting some of your posts in which you left your
inhibitions behind--- just to stay connected to and to honor what somebody
else who didn't know you, and doesn't value the whole of a person, might
find moronic, too.
if all you want in and from this newsgroup is what you can find in
periodicals, libraries and on the www, asa is going to disappoint you and
frustrate you--- because we are whole people who love, respect, enjoy the
wholeness of each other and even the memories of that wholeness. there will
be more "larry reposts", because he indelibly engraved himself in our hearts
and minds. if you stick around and these bore you, skip them, but respect
the irrefutable fact that this group has lost someone who was treasured, as
a brother, father figure, friend and more.
if you want to stick around, mea culpa's are in order, as you've
insensitively tread upon the grief of others here.

The members of the ASA newsgroup have every intention of granting
your request.
Just bring us all the chocolate of the Wicked Witch of the West.
Also one flying monkey and a ball of kite string.

Whoops...not so fast! Since you've delurked once, we know you can do it
again.
Tell us about yourself...if you lurk here then you know that we're
incredibly nosey and need know everything about you.
Plus, it's safe to leave your chocolate with me...I prefer Jelly Belly
beans.

Hey Tox, Kelly is absolutely correct. You can delurk again. You don't
have to tell us EVERY thing, but just a bit at a time. Get yourself back
here.

delurk a bit more often, Tox, ok? anyone who is so well informed about the
Wicked Witch of the West's chocolate is welcome around here!
Actually, even more than that, I like the humor in your delurk. Speak up
more, especially when you're inclined to do so humorously. I like stuff that
makes me smile and chuckle.
