Jim got a job. He starts tomorrow. It is with a temp service. But it is
suppose to be long term temp job. He will be doing forklift with a pet
packaging distribution center. It is a 12 hr day job.

I can not believe it.

It is funny how things work out.

I just called today to transfer all the money we had in savings to our
checking to take care of the next two months bills. We were just talking
about having to cash in our small cd and put it into saving when it fell due
in 3/17. Right after that, Jim got the call about the job.

Kelly services which is the temp service he had his application in with
never called him since he applied months and months ago.

So it is like whoa, this is really something. I hope you will celebrate with
us. Yes it is not much money, but it will bring some in so we don't have to
keep borrowing large sums of money from family. Now maybe only have to
borrow a little.

Isn't this something. I never gave up faith. I knew something would come
around sooner or later. I knew he would get a job again. But boy was it a
wait. It has been one year in Oct that he lost his job.

God is good. Life is good. All things come to those who wait.

That's great news!!!!  Often temp jobs turn into permanent jobs, as mine
did. I'll have to toast with fruit juice as I'm not allowed alcohol, so
here's to Jim's new job :))))

Hugs and Love,
Carole :)

Oh how wonderful for you both! I am delighted to see this wonderful news,
Jo. I'm so sorry that it has been such a struggle and am hoping that this
turns into something permanent.

things are looking up indeed!  This is a start and hopefully a regular
fulltime job is just ahead for him.

The moment I saw your subject line, I had to download your message first.
It's high time the two of you had some great news.

SJ, I am so thankful for you and Jim.  It has been a long dry spell, and I
know this will really help.  Will pray that it lasts a long time, unless
something better comes along.

Thats what kept me going Harv,

I kept saying it is in Gods time not our time. When he was ready he would
give us a job. That is what got me thru this long waiting period along with

DeeTee and Bob Taggart - 26 Feb 2005 15:58 GMT
WoooooHooooo, Squirrely!  I've been out of work for 15 months and things are
really tight.  However, there have been nibbles for Bob to transfer to
Columbus, Ohio as a GS-13!!  Wouldn't that be awesome?!  Lower cost of
living with increased salary.  I hope Jim gets in there and loves it so much
that they hire him on permanently and at an increased rate.  We'll be
watching for the update.

Hugs to both, DeeTee

Thanks again for you all sharing in our joy. It has been a long time in
coming but oh so worth the wait. ;-)

His schedule will take getting some used to but it will work out because
that way I can schedule appts. for when he is off. So that works out really
good.

I was wrong about the insurance I guess. Just got around to reading it
yesterday and we could have Blue Cross but it is really expensive per month.
So we won't be able to afford it. So unless he gets permanent job before
June, I guess I will be out of luck.
But we will deal with that one when it happens.

Yesterday was a better day for him. The first day they worked him so hard
and so fast. Yesterday it was easier and slower.

Jo it looks like he works two days has two off, works three has three off
something like that. So it looks good.

Mary not sure about a permanent job. But they do have him scheduled in thru
June and he asked if that stops then after that and they said no it will
continue. So who knows.

Dee Tee wishing the best for you on the job front too. I know things have
been really rough for you and Bob too. My  heart goes out to you and know
that i am sending prayers and good thoughts your way.

Terrific news!  This must really bring up his spirits.  Is there a
possibility he will work into a permanent job  with health insurance?

Ah there is the post. Spotted that in another just by
passing so glad to see this. I worked for Kelly when I
had to stop college for a year due to mono. Don't know
how it works now but you filled out your time paper and
had to put in your social security number. I had
several different temp jobs a week and I have never
forgotten my SSN.  I had to start out as a file clerk
cause I couldn't pass the typing test. Filing for other
people just sucks. Pardon the french. Turns out when
someone has been some place for 25 years, they file
stuff the way they want to -- not on how it make sense.
Some things were filed by numbers; some by station
names; and some by the nicknames of the station owners,
none of which was on the letter being filed. Worked
there for a day and went back to the office and told
them I was not going back there. That woman was a nut.
The manager told me I was the fourth person sent there
and she was going to have to go herself cause there was
obviously something wrong. rofl
I love working for a temp agency. Always meant I could
take a day off if I wanted to.
Great news all around.
Does Kelly offer insurance now?

This is wonderful.  Hope it turns out to be something that really suits him.
The 12 hour days will be tough at first, but I thinking that means only four
days a week?  So will mean he still has three days a week off and you can
schedule appointments around that.

Awwwwww, SJ, am so very happy for both you and Jim.  This thread brought
instant tears to my eyes, but they are good tears---happy tears!!!

This has got to be such a huge relief for the both of you!!!   Praise
God for that blessing!!!

I worked for a year or so with Manpower temps and loved the variety and
the work. Several of the jobs I was sent on I really enjoyed, but they
said I worked too efficiently and worked myself right out of  jobs.
Didn't really matter, as there were always other jobs waiting it seemed
and they always were so interesting.   I used to tell myself that if I
every got sent on a job that I really didn't like, it wouldn't be that
bad as I knew they were all temp jobs anyways.   Turns out, though, that
that is how I ended up getting my next permanent job.   The company that
I had been working for, called payed the extra fee to end the contract
and hire me on permanently.   That was so cool.   I loved working for
the temp service---if only they had paid insurance and such!

Sure hope Jim loves the job and does well.   Keep us posted and
congratulations to the both of you!!!

Hugs,

Spoke too soon again. They called him yesterday and told him then didn't
need him anymore. So much for long term temp. Two days and done. Oh wow that
really helped us alot. Now he is down in the dumps more than he was before.
But he is going to look for another job today.

I'll keep him in my prayers, SJ.  I had that happen with temp jobs, so I
know how he feels. I think sometimes they tell you it's long term so
that you'll take it. Some people won't take jobs that are only a couple
of days long. What I did which helped a little was to register with a
lot of agencies. Some only call you once a year. I did get a little more
work by doing that.

HUGS,
Carole

Triple crap. That is just not fair. Does the temp
agency have other places it can send him?

{{{squirrely}}}, that really is bad news. it is really frustrating to
get off on great news and then have the wind knocked out of you by
removing it. something long term will show up.
