The rain season is July 1 to June 30.
As of last Friday, this had been the 12th wettest season.
As of Monday evening, this has been the 5th wettest
season, and there are 4+ months left.
After they measure the rainfall from last Monday and
today, I'd bet the data has moved up another notch
or two.
A month ago, no reservoir was more than 14% full.
Yesterday some were running over the spillways.
People actually came out and stood in the rain for
hours just to see the event at one reservoir.

We are the third dryest on record. Our water year runs from October
1 through September 30. Several of our ski areas are closed. -- MZ

Yet there are avalanches in California's
Sierras and in Utah - several deaths
and rescues and the season isn't over.
3 or 4 years ago several of the Sierra
ski resorts were closed for the same
reason as yours are now.

The weather in my part of Canada is pretty mild for winter -5C today. We
had alot of snow a few days ago and yesterday some freezing rain. Had to
scrape ice off the car but didn't mind as it was nothing like the cold spell
of a couple weeks ago. That time I had to get out the lock de-icer as my
car key wouldn't go into the lock, let alone turn it.
62F sound soooo nice right now :-)

Yeah, and it's been really weird here as the storms come across the country.
Central and southern Michigan has had 2-3 times as much snow as northern
Michigan. Should be the other way around. Coupled with the thaws we've
had, the winter tourism industry is really hurting here.

It's a nice picture up here :) My friends at work are teasing me that I
got sick because I wanted to enjoy the weather :) I have to admit that
it's nice to wake up to gorgeous blue skies every morning. And it's
supposed to be 60 degrees today, so I may have to get the lawn chair out
and go sit outside for a bit.

yeah, it's been gorgeous. 30 degrees this morning. makes wrapping up under
a handmade quilt feel roasty-toasty. hard to believe how pretty it's been.
i still can't believe we had only 5 snowflakes (i counted them<smile>) all
winter! but, february is not overwith yet, there may be another 5
snowflakes before it's time for spring. we need the precip/snowpack though,
badly.

Yes, it's been beautiful, hasn't it? I'm not sure if I dare call it
spring, though. We've had March come in like a lamb and roar out like a
lion before... So, should I plant my new rosebush? ;)

Ok, I envious !
Somerset UK
Snow showers temp around 0 - 2 degrees C
Had some sun for a few days tho and that's an event
The weather always affects my RA. Damp and 0 - 8 C = misery and pain.
Below O OK (dry air), but I would prefer 75 - 80 degrees F.

It was 76 on Sunday here in OK. I loved every bit of it, but today it is
rainy and 40. eww. it makes me ache. We have a saying around here about the
weather if you don't like the weather today stick around and it will change
soon. We can go from a 80 degree day to below freezing the next with snow! I
have seen it happen! we can have a beautiful afternoon and by 5 PM be in the
midst of a severe thunderstorm! Once we were on a field trip to a fishing
dock with my sons class and it was a beautiful sunny morning it was warm and
very nice. Then by 1 pm we had a big black cloud hanging over us with
tornado sirens going off. It caught us by surprise. we got all the kids
safely home and by then it was all over and it was sunny again??? Go figure?

We are expecting mostly sunny and 68 degrees here in the northern part of
the California Central Valley. Absolutely heaven as long as you don't have
allergies. Orchards and everything else are in bloom.

Send us your snow!!!! Try living in a ski resort and having no new natural
snow in 3 weeks, plus high temps around 45F. At least it's sunny and it's
been cold enough at night to keep the lakes frozen and good for skating
(although I don't think I'll go until it gets colder--it hit 49F today!). At
this point last year we'd already had nearly 6 feet in the valley.

Well, I went outside this morning in the LA area and saw my shadow, so
we're going to have six more weeks of rain.

Well, the weather here in michigan has been, well.................has
been rather typical for this time of year.
On monday we had just a little over 6 inches of snow and then about 1/2
inch of freezing rain on top of that. Mid week has been sunny and in
the upper 30's and lower 40's. It's supposed to be about 48-50 by
sunday, but then supposed to drop back down into the 20's with another
snow front to come through. I must say we have had quite a bit of
snow this year. In fact, we have had more snow down state then upstate,
and that is quite unusual!!! We definitely have a while to go yet
before we really see spring here!

Lemme see... usually late February is fairly chilly in Alberta. Heavy coats
and snowbrushes all around. But this year... the sun is shining, it has
been as high as 10C (50F), and the geese are coming home.
I sat outside at lunch time yesterday, and there were actually motorhomes
driving past. Crazy!
It is times like these when I am glad I am not a farmer :-(

Hi Janet, I found it very interesting to read the rain fall in Calf.'s
history. It seems there are long cycles when high rain amounts take place.
It seems we are on the down side of a very active sun cycle of 11 years or
so.
I read where the thing to watch for is the slowing or reversing of the
gulf stream with an ice age not far behind if it happens.
I think the thing to worry about is taking a walk on a Calf. beach and a
house sliding your way. So it goes.

Should be interesting... I believe it has only been about four years since
it peaked, and the next one is supposed to be a much stronger peak. It will
be interesting to see how we are affected.
