My last visit to my RD I took him some information on Milk Thistle. I had
mentioned it once when my LFTs were abnormal and told him a lot of people on
this group said it helped to straighten the liver out. He said he had never
heard of it, and he didn't want me to start it right then, as I was on so many
meds.

Anyhow, my tests became normal again and I decided to start taking Milk Thistle
to keep them normal. I have been taking it for a while now. He called me the
other day because of problems I have been having with my knees and I told him I
was also taking Milk Thistle now. He said "Oh, yes, you gave me something to
read on that. It is probably a good thing to take and it also has some
anti-inflammatory properties." Isn't it nice when they actually pay attention?
:-) And thanks to the many here who suggested it in the first place. I just took
the information, gave it to the doc and told him it was his homework. <big grin>

You should be careful, though, as it's often a case of the priest who
blessed the house to keep tigers away...

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:

Sometimes medicine gets too specialized.  My RD didn't know about Milk
Thistle either.  Under that name.  All the studies that she WAS familiar
with used the name Silymarin.

That's just plain silly, Jo. Sorry, I couldn't help it. <hanging head in shame>
