Hi Everyone,
I met with a car accident on sept 5th 2003, hit my knee to car
dashboard and fractured my lower end of femur bone. Doctor put DCS
implant. After four months came to know that I was not operated
correctly. So went thru another surgery on 27th Dec 2003 in which Dr.
Removed my DCS implant and used AV Implant along with that some
grafting. Everything went fine but I started having fever, it was
later found that I am having a case of low-grade infection (ESR
reading was high). I was told to kill my time on antibiotics, as the
only cure to this problem is to get my implant removed which possible
only after the union of my bone. I started developing fluid in my knew
joint then Doc suggested for arthroscopy in order to get me knee
cleaned so that I can hire some more time before I can finally get
removed my implant as 6-12 month period is required for that, which
was performed on july 13th 2004. Finally foreign object was removed on
28th Sept 2004. I was advised for 6 weeks rest before I start bearing
load on my leg.
Now for the past 2.5 months I have been bearing full weight. I do
bicycling coolly. But my problem is that I don't feel comfortable
while I walk. Little bit of pain though I don't need any painkiller. I
cannot run. Range of motion is more then 120 though I can make 100%
with little efforts but it goes back to same position in the morning.
If someone has faced similar problem his/her advice would be highly
appreciated.
Thanks
RK

RK,
I wish I had some answers, but I don't know anything about this kind of
surgery. I just wanted to let you know I saw your post. Maybe some others
might have some advice.

Has your doctor started you on physio therapy yet? All that surgery,
limited joint movement and inactivity is going to take its toll, and takes
time to recover from. Next time you see your doctor, tell him your concerns
and ask what is to be expected over the next six months.
