Well here is the latest. I am typing as much as I can for now. Hurting big
time.

The emetrial (sp) biopsy was done on Mon. Ran into a little problem so had
to have too done at once. Won't have results for two weeks.

Scared the heck out of dr when I got out into hall he was down in his office
at the end of hall. He started to talk to me about the prescription he gave
me. I must have looked like heck or he has good eye sight. The tears just
started coming out of my eyes without warning. When I had been on the table
it must have been too much. On Sat, I had to go in because of something to
do with the trapezieus muscle. Well I had gotten one heck of a spasm on that
side in the rib cage. This one was a give me morphine or shoot me pain. He
came running down the hall, the nurse came running from the other hallway
toward me. He is going we can send you over to the hospital across the
street. I said, I am fine. ;-)
He said well we can get you into your dr right now. I said, I am fine ;-) He
said ok, then you go get prescription and if not better by then, come back
and you will see the dr. I said ok. Tears still coming out of eyes. Holding
the rib cage because now it is out as far as my hunchback is. Went and
picked up pills. I came back told him I was fine and came home. By that time
the pain had let up. Later that night of course, it went back up into the
shoulder blade, neck and head again.

Got call today, thyroid biopsy was scheduled for tomorrow. They wanted me to
come in today. Said ok. Got there, got in, doing ultrasound to find tumors
they needed to biopsy. They were going to do the big guys, (2). Dr that does
that, said can't do it. The big guys and the little guys, all the rest, are
too many to biopsy. The big guys are from under jaw, all the way down to
under the collar bone. The rest of thyroid is filled with the little guys.
Just from the last ultrasound (then there was like a half moon of white
area) now there is just a string area of white space. He said it looks like
I might have Graves disease from the ultrasound pics. The results will be in
at the drs in a week. So there might be a possibility that I have Graves and
Hashimotos both. I hear it is rare but can happen.

Talked with My PCP this morning and she is trying to get me another endo. I
am hoping in a way that it will be the one that I started with. But if not
as long as it is not the one I have had, it will be ok.

I am getting answers, not necessarily the ones I wanted but I did ask for
answers. Ask and you shall receive. ;-)

I will as I can try to answer emails, posts, give thanks, tell about party,
and visit, and any other stuff I forgot to mention about drs and such as I
can.

I am praying and sending good thoughts out as I read the messages. You are
not forgotten, just not put in writing yet. I love you all. May this year be
better for you all than it started out being for alot of you.

Cindy and all that answered. Thank you so much. I appreciate the thoughts,
hugs, prayers and such. Now is the time to give them to someone else. I am
finished for now. So we need to share these with someone else who is going
thru alot.

I appreciate the kind words, caring, love, cards, phone calls, etc and it
has helped me make it thru this all. I will be updating once I get somewhat
caught up again.

I am the energizer squirrel (not bunny) LOL ;-)

I know I am special to all of you and that you love me and I hope you all
know it is returned to you all also and that I feel the same way about you
all. This is just one hecka of a group. Well I don't consider it a group
anymore it is family.

well, having Graves and Hashi's both would be quite a hassle, but at least
they are both treatable.  And it sounds like yours needs prompt treatment.  I
hope your PCP can find that new endo quickly.  They need to do something to
shrink those tumors NOW.

be gentle with yourself.  I can't believe how much you've endured and still
have held on to your compassion for others and your cheery sense of humor.
It's fine to break down once in a while to let some of it out.

Please keep us posted and don't worry about answering us individually if
you're not up to it.  What we really want now is for you to get your bod
tuned p some.

From what I am gathering. I guess it is both. The ultrasound biopsy dr says
it looks like graves from the ultrasound. But the test results from blood is
saying hashimotos. From what I have heard and read, I guess I had the graves
part and because it went untreated now it has gone to the hashimotos part. I
am learning all you ever wanted to know about thyroid from the thyroid ng,
websites, and talking to others that have had surgery on their thyroid.
Maybe I can be an endo when I grow up. LOL ;-)

I talked with the endo yesterday and she said she is hoping the thyroid med
will shrink the tumors. That is the route we are going to try at this point.
So I will be starting the meds tomorrow and see what happens. I go in for
blood work in 6 weeks. In May we do another ultrasound to keep a watch on
them.

I am stuck with the old endo. Can't go out of system to get another one. So
I am not sure I like this. But have to do what I can do I guess.

It's good to know that something at least is getting underway to treat this.
I surely hope they can shrink those tumors and then progress to what the next
step should be.  It's great that you've found good thyroid groups to learn
from.  This is one way in which the internet has been such a boon to us!
When I think of my old days of reading everything in the library and having
access to the medical library at UF... well, I just wouldn't get much out of
those resources where we live now!

well, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.  It is possible for good things to come
from bad doctors and that is what we'll be praying for.

all this thyroid talk reminds me of a dear friend whose thyroid went
completely wild on her.  Huge swings from hypo to hyper and medication just
made it worse.  Eventually she had it taken out and she has been so much
happier on that little pill each day.  I need to write her a letter......

I might have another chance with the endo though. Since Jim got a job we
might be changing insurance which would mean maybe a new dr for the thyroid.
I would hate to lose my pcp though. She has fought so hard to get me to
where I am now.

You might be able to argue for continued care with her
with the new insurance company.
And when did Jim get the new job???  Very excited for
you both about that.

We are all hoping and praying for you to get over all the stuff bothering

pain and suffering you are having, plus having to wait to get the results of

you relief.

Gwen,

It helps me get thru this by thinking of others. It makes me get my mind off
the poor me stuff and think of others that are having just as bad as time or
worse of a time than I do. It has been wearing me down but my concern for
others keeps me going.
