sorry i've been gone so long.  did try to let some of you know i was still
nearby and ok by forwarding jokes and such.

the 22'x65' driveway is finished.   22'x28' carport is finished
2 old vehicles helped pay for them, my son's '83 ford ranger and my
seville---that's 2 old vehicles that don't have to be worked into the
landscaping now (like maybe turning them upsidedown and into planters,
planting posies in and around them?)  about a week and a half's worth of
major construction around here.  the stresses exhausted me, mentally and
physically (and partly because of dramatic weather changes, i'm sure).  man,
i'd get to 4-4:30pm and quite literally could no longer walk.  then had to
double my pain meds and wait a couple of hours for it to reach peak relief,
so i could function again.  hard week.

i spoke to my rd, chiro (who deferred to my pcp, because my pcp has picked
winners for me in the past) and my pcp, to get suggestions for who to do the
epidural series.  my rd seemed to be waaaay out of touch with this kind of
knowing who to refer patients to thing.  that's twice i've asked my rd for
doctor suggestions and both times her suggestions have scored a big
goose-egg because of the doctors no longer being available.

pcp came up with one that sounds like another winner.  she's faxing the
order today or tomorrow, because i called who she suggested and they met my
criteria.   you'd be amazed how many different kinds of doctors can get
certification to do lumbar epidurals---even sports medicine/rehab.   this
one is a radiologist, will give me a consult first, does it under xray, does
a local, is very experienced and is even certified for cervical.  i found
out, from my chiro-friend (who constantly amazes me with how much she knows
about so many things) that cervical certification is harder to get than
lumbar, so if the doctor has that cervical certification then the L5-S1
epidural series should be a "no biggiew0w" for him or her to do.  so, as
soon as that fax gets to their office, i'll be called for the consult appmt.
who knows.  it might get done this week.  and with a name like dr. alex
(considering two sons, my husband and one of our cats had that name) it's
got to be a good sign.  y'think?

hanging in there.

No wonder you were exhausted with all that was going on, Kate.  Glad things
are being set up for the epidural.  Pray it is a miracle for you.

yeppers.  they worked from daybreak to darkness on some days.  for them it
was just another job.  for me, it was long days of not being able to take
care of myself.  like who wants to hot soak  or hang upsidedown on an
inversion table, with a workcrew around and popping in and out asking
construction questions?

i'm hopeful of the best possible outcome from the epidural series.  i'd
soooo prefer that to surgery.  major bigtime preference.  thanks for your
prayers, sweetie.

thank you for your prayers, sweetness.  i love my pcp, too.  she's kind of
like, "what do you need or want?  and what can i help you with?" and if i
can give voice to what i need or want from her, she just
listens/trusts/believes in me and does it for me.  if i can't give voice to
it, i frustrate her a little, though; and i know that's my fault, because i
do become very muddleheaded at times.  somehow, i have the feeling this
procedure is going to be ok, now.  it's not often i feel peaceful about
something like this.  then again, this is not thursday, so there may still
be toe wiggling time ahead.<smile>

No wonder you've been gone!  You truly have had much going on.  Though I'd
probably have told them I had to turn upside down not to bother me for a
while so I could do the inversion table.  If there's any infirmity
construction folks are empathetic about, it's back problems!  It's rough
though when you have something like that keeping you on the run until you
suddenly realize the pain is past the breaking point.  (I know, I thought I
was enough better last weekend that I could drop my Ultram some of the time.
Did fine for a while, but when it reached the point of me taking it again,
the pain was so bad that it took some time to calm back down.  Guess I'll
continue taking the Ultram regularly for now.)

I hope this great doc you've found is able to start the epidural series soon
and that it gives you major relief.  It'll seem like a whole new world to
you.
Glad to know you're hanging in there.

strong drinks with little umbrellas in them!

thank you, anne.  y'know, we women need to come up with an idea for a name
for a "man's" garage sale kinda thang, where they can do some man-sized
wrangling, wheeling and dealing, for things like cars that won't run, broken
hay wagons and truck bed liners for make and model trucks they never owned.
just need to come up with the right name for it; maybe some name
with"craftsman" in it (i think that whatshisface allen comic knows the right
man-sized  button to push) and it'll catch on, i betcha.  y'think?<smile>

Hmmmmm....I had a handsome surgeon for my gall bladder operation.  Silly man
tried to talk to me right after the sedative...I was shameless flirt!

I think he was blushing as I drifted of to La La Land...LOL

SSSSSHHHHH don't tell Jim I said this. But Dr. Alexander was so easy on the
eyes that he could have biopsied anything on me. LOL  ;-)

Talk about shameless. Oh boy.

heehee, one thing I've always liked about Mike is that he's understanding of
me admiring good looking men.  In fact, I was recently commenting on how good
looking someone on TV was and he said, "Heck, if I would gay I'd be going
after him!"

Of course, I make sure he feels really secure with me so I can look at other
men without impunity  heehee

Works both ways.  When I proposed to Mary, I told her
my eyes may wander but my feet would be cemented
next to hers.

Women in the Christian divorce recovery group I once
was leader of stated they would not mind if a date eyed
a gal walking past while at a restaurant, but would object
if he focused his attention on her through the entire meal.

Yeah, and Mary makes me feel really secure.  <g>

I tell Bob that I don't care where he gets his appetite as long as he comes
home for meals. Teeheehee Also - what's she got that I don't have more of.
