OK I am not sure what to do now. I went to get my Remicade this morning ...
got my remicade everything was fine until I started home (30 mile trip from
RD office). I was driving along and my ears start ringing and then I start
getting chest pain on my right side then it starts crushing a bit then stops
( all this while driving). I get home and think maybe it is because I
haven't eaten all day and I needed some food. I eat but the ringing gets
worse and I start getting a headache and dizzy.. at this point I knew I
wasn't feeling right. I lay down to rest but it doesn't feel any better so I
call my hubby and he told me to call the RD and that he was on his way home
(kids needed to be picked up) I called the RD and the infusion nurse tells
me it could just be sinus problems and not to worry...I say in my head.."you
are so full of it" I told her to please run this by the doc so we can make
sure. Well she calls back and she said he recommends me to go to my cardio
doc. I call the cardio doc and he blows me off and sends me to my family
doc. This cardio doc is not my usual doc because she is on vacation right
now. I do have cardio problems i.e... Right bundle branch block, and mitrial
valve prolapse, I also have bouts with pleurisy(sp?). I feel like I have
been let down by our so called healthcare system!!!!! I know I have been
whining allot and I promise I will stop soon. Right now I am asking myself
"what just happened here???" I was passed off.
I know I should have just gone to the ER, but if you knew the ERs around
here you would be very careful about going to one..The pain has subsided I
am no longer dizzy. If I even get one twitch of pain I will head to the ER.
I can help but think I might have had a bit of an allergic reaction to the
Remicade. Maybe my body was not sure how to react to it.??? BTW this was my
second loading dose and I have been on it before in the past year with no
problems.

Hugs Rhonda,
I think the next time, just save yourself alot of agravation and head to the
ER...Nothing to mess around with...Especially since you have heart
history...
I know about our ERs...Spent all day at Southwest Med Center yesterday with
my daughter...took 7 hrs to get her admitted...
It was full...I meant to the hospital, not to the er...we were only waiting
about an hour and a half for that...LOL...
She is okay. They suspect hepatitis, They did an ultrasound of her
gallblader and there were stones, but not enough evidence to cause her
bilirubin to be 6 times normal...whatever that is...Then she had a urinary
tract infection that she didn't even suspect. I think it came on quickly as
she had not been able to drink or eat anything for the last two weeks...Well
off and on...She was just bloated and in alot of pain...Nausea..not vomiting
and stools were normal, just gray...
So they called in a GI man today. The surgeon wanted to make sure she didn't
have any bile ducts blocked...He doesn't think so, so instead of the very
invasive test the surgeon suggested, he suggested a special xray and wait
until the results come back from the hep test...
If both of those come back negative, he will do the other test....So we are
just hanging in limbo...Oh he also said that even though she had stones,
that he didn't think that was what was causing her problem and he thought
maybe she didn't have to have her gall bladder out at this point...
Well, Rhonda, I jumped right in here on your whine...Sorry...
Just got carried away on the whole er thing..
Praying that you are okay...Hugs Cindy

Thats ok.. I understand.. Southwest is awful but I still think Baptist is
the worst in a tie with OU med center.
I like Mercy but it is so far away and I am in Mustang. They have the new
Canadian Valley hospital out here but they are part of Integris so that
lumps them in with SW and baptist. I am sorry about your daughter. That
sounds like gall bladder to me but that is just my opinion. She sounds like
she is very sick to me. I will keep her in my prayers and thoughts. I am
glad that you are here close and know what I mean by ERs. I have been
considering driving it to Dallas to Baylor to find a new RD. Lord knows we
do not have the money but the Drs here are really starting to go down hill.
Bad drs..lololol. I guess I am still kind of angry about my grandpas doc
when he was sick with Cancer.. he could of ordered more tests when my
grandpa first went to him complaining of chronic lung problems..I think the
doc was over confident that nothing was wrong and it ended up being Cancer 6
mos later. I sound so negitive today and lately.. I am sorry.. I am just
having a bad few days... I will smile again soon and be back to myself..:o)
It is 8:30 pm and So far so good I am feeling ok a little tired, but no
chest pain or tightness. I will continue to watch it and if I do it again I
am off to the ER. I promise...
Take care of you and your daughter ok? And I dont mind you jumping on my
whine, you may do it anytime.

Hi Rhonda,,,, Your RD does know this is taking place????

I have to wonder if she actually went to talk to him or if she just went to
the PA. I bet she went to the PA. She did this morning when I told them that
I was having trouble with the MTX (Lots of nausea and weakness). They never
passed it by my doc. You know I haven't been seen by my doc for almost two
years now that I think of it just his PA. I know PAs are trained well but
you know they just dont have the experience and knowledge that RD's do.

When I told my PCP what the nurse said 'she' told me to
do -- she flipped out. Turns out no one had talked with
her at all. When I call now, I am to say that I am
returning her phone call, that she wanted to talk with
me. No way around that for the keepers at the gate.

WHAT?? You mean not once did they tell you it was an anxiety attack??? I
have to actually get a rash for doctors to believe I am having a reaction
because I have periodic panic attacks. When I took Rem. and had breathing
troubles that is what they told me. Now, that may have been for the first
one as it took a year or so for the RD to talk me into it. But after that I
was feelign good and was ready for some more of it! Had the same reaction
to the second dose and they pulled that with me. I told the doctor that I
wasn't taking it. Wasn't worth building up to a possible bad reaction. Not
to mention I hurt like heck after the second infusion.
Remicade certainly can cause some of the problems you experienced so it
upsets me that they take it so lightly.

Oh I feel for you!
Im at home with pulmonary lupus and suspected hemorrhaging in the
capillaries (sp????)....and I began running 102 fever Saturday nite...called
all my docs...they all passed the buck.
My husband went to his office and got me some antibiotics...still running
fever. I see the lung doc tomorrow.
My insurance should seriously be paying my husband for my care!
I hope you are alright. Explain to your doc how you feel...I am going to!

Rhonda, you should have gone to the ER or called for an ambulance. Ringing
in the ears is a sign of a heart attack, as is the pain. Listen to your
body.
Go and see a doctor tomorrow and get this checked out. You may have had a
mini stroke.

Rhonda,
OMGosh I hope you re okay, and that you tried to seek help from
somewhere, and that they actually checked you out thouroughly.
MM
Susanne,
I had every symptom of ministroke, when I was able to finally get to
go be seen. I was told that it couldnt have been one because hours
later it would have turned into a full blown stroke. I saw my Neuros
assistanton Friday. I had the ministroke symptoms a couple of weeks
ago, but couldn't go see a dr. because my MIL cant be left alone at
home. Well I guess I should have hitchhiked there, or somethin then i
guess i would have been taken seriously.

I don't know if I'd believe who ever told you that Rhonda. I've heard of
people who have a mini stroke weeks before the big one.
Just take it more easy in the meantime and keep pushing the docs for
answers.
take care.

A stroke does not always happen after a TIA or mini-stroke. You can
have many TIA episodes over a long period of time. Also ringing in the
ears (tinnitus) can be caused by many different things and sometimes a
cause is never found.

I have tinnitus and I have never had a stroke. I think age causes it quite
often.
