I have had shoulder pain off and on now for awhile. Went to Neurologist and
told was JUST arthritis. Not sure how he knows without some kind of test. I
also just found out when I have the pain to raise arm overhead and around
neck relieves the pain.

Is this normal with arthritis, that you can relieve the pain with just a
positioning of body part?  Seems like most people on this site are on some
kind of medication.

I was diagnosed in 1977 and still get oddles of relief in
the neck and shoulders with some stretching exercises
I learned that far back.

I do many of them in the shower, under the hottest water
bearable without scalding.

If you have tension in your shoulders, you're probably
reducing that by lifting (stretching) your arm and bring
it around the neck.

Ray,

Of course you want to follow through and find out what kind of arthritis.
your PCP could help with that or refer you to a specialist.  When I have
flare-ups even though I am on medication it has helped to get a cortisone
shot in my shoulder or offending area.  Ask your doc about this.
