In venting my frustration over raising my 12 yo step-son, I wrote the
following this morning.  My DH suggested I post it.  Let me know what you
think, positive or negative.

Thanks.

Mary Margaret

A strong person:

-does what is right even if it is hard or not popular.

-always speaks the truth.

-always acts with integrity.

-always seeks the well-earned trust of others.

- is humble regarding his strengths.

-knows his limitations and asks for help.

-acknowledges the strengths of others.

-is compassionate toward those who are weaker than he is.

-is aware of how he might help others and offers that help.

-seeks to improve himself in all ways.

-is unafraid to try something new, even if he might fail in the attempt.

-behaves appropriately in all situations.

-uses his sense of justice and fairness to improve his world.

-is humble before God.

Child, it is my greatest desire that you become a strong person. I am
willing to help you in whatever way I am able.

Very, very good.  Sounds exactly like the character
traits that the Boy Scouts trys to instill in young men
who join the organization.

As a mother of three teens, I loved it!  I agree that this is good philosophy!
