Tonight I found out that Mom has VRE which is Vancomycin-resistant
Enterococci. This is the second time she has had this. It's another
UTI for her. She is very swollen and I'm worried about sepsis and or
kidney failure. They haven't done a WBC count since Jan 26th but are
getting one tonight. That will tell us more. I'm really getting more
worried now that maybe this is it. I can handle it if she dies, I know
it would be better than how she is now.

Mom has been sleeping since Friday now. She opens her eyes when you
talk to her but only answers simple almost rote answers and goes back
to sleep.  More tomorrow.

Diane,
I am praying for you and your mom...It is so difficult to watch some one you
love in this condition.
You must be torn with hoping that she pulls through and hoping that
God is merciful and doesn't let her suffer...
Hugs Cindy

Well said Cindy.   Yes, they are in my prayers and Diane is finding strength
she did not know she had.    All that Cocci stuff but she knows what to do
and is doing well.

Diane, I am so sorry about your mom. Do you mean from the vancomycin
medication. If so that med shouldn't be allowed to be on the market.  it ruined
my life.  i lost my equilibrim and still dont have it back after about 10 yrs.
i also got lichens planis and suffered for almost 2 yrs scratching and
bleeding.  i have the pigment out of my skin from it. my skin is all messed up.
i could write a book about vanco.  I feel so sorry for you and your family.
God Bless you and i will pray for the best.  audie

audie, this is diane c here. i'm sorry for what you went through with
vancomycin, but i don't think that's what diane w meant was causing a
problem with her mom. and right now, vanco seems to be saving my
boyfriend's life. i hope he doesn't have those problems with it. it's
like all the meds--cost and benefit.

Prayers continue for you both. As Harv says often, He
will be done...  Do you have a DNR in place?

Yes, all legal paperword and the DNR in place. Except for what they
call here in FL "the yellow card"  that's the only one that paramedics
will honor. Need to check into that. But at any rate, Mom is being
discharges as I type. Going to meet her at the nursing home and make
sure they have all the correct meds and orders in place.  Will rant
tomorrow about "Medicare Review" and patient care.
