More pain after swelling reduction

I posted last night about this but my post mysteriously poofed!  Or atleast
I cannot find it.

How frustrating is it when you have a significant reduction in swelling but
then the pain increases?  I started taking Gluc/Chon and there was
significant improvement overnight.  I actually found out I had patellas and
anklebones again!  The problem was once I got out of bed everything started
crunching and pain shot out of my inner knees.  It felt like a bad pinched
nerve and the joint wanted to give way.

I suppose the fluid was acting as padding.  The last time I had xrays done
most of the joints had no cartilage and some points has eroded bone.  An MRI
done with my baker's cyst could not find my ACL and they assume it
dissolved.  Subsequent MRIs couldn't find it either.

So now I am wondering if the pain will get better.  Can anyone sypathize?
How frustrating!

Speaking as a long time OA/knees sufferer - Ouch!   :-)

I would highly recommend getting those knees checked out again.  There are
synovial fluid replacements available that may help and, since you've
noticed such a big difference with the swelling, it would be worth getting
an update on the current state of your joints.  When were your last x-rays
taken?  Could be all that inflamation masked a significant change or another
problem.  Another reason to get checked is that maybe it's finally time for
some surgery.  Either way you need to get that pain treated asap.  Joint
problems are never really pain free but we are all worth as little pain as
possible.

In the meantime - hang out here - I have chocolate - best medicine around!

you may be using themmore now that the extreme swelling has gone down as a
result you are feeling the pain.  And yes extreme swelling can mask some of
the pain sensations as well.  Now that the selling has gone down its
probably time to get an updated x'ray and MRI.  Have you had cortisone or
sysnevic injections..they may help.

I have had both cortisone and synvisc shots...They did nothing for my
pain..The cortisone does take the swelling down...I hope you get some
relief soon. But calling or seeing your doctor is a start...
