If you have arthritis in a joint is the pain continuous, or just once in a
while? Seems like the pain in my shoulder is intermittent and does not hurt
when arm in a certain position.

Yes for some people, or yes for some others.
The answer would depend upon the type of arthritis, severity
or progression of the arthritis (how many years), a person's
sensitivity/tolerance to pain, lifestyle (including exercise and
weight) and several other factors.

I have OA in my neck, left knee, and back. Depending on the day, what I
have done, the weather, if I hold my left ear with my right hand and
scratch my nose with my left hand I sometimes have severe pain or very
little pain. Seriously, the pain may come and go depending on the severity
of your arthritis and the activities that you do that may aggravate your
condition.
