i took john to the er at 2 am this morning. he'd lost tons of blood
over the course of an hour and his fever had spiked back up to 102. in
all the years he had ulcerative colitis, he said he never lost this
much blood at one time. i just got home (it's 8:20). he was being
admitted. i'm going to nap a couple of hours and then go back. it's not
a typical ulcerative colitis/crohns flare, so they're doing loads of
tests. they think some other infection or the antibiotic triggered the
flare. he'd been in remission for 4 years, so recently went off his
maintenance drug (at his doc's recommendation).
i feel guilty for coming home, but i'm exhausted. i figure i'll be in
better shape for him later if i sleep some now.

Diane!!! Don't feel guilty for coming home. You will be unable to help
him if you're dead on your feet!!
Sending hugs and good thoughts to both of you

((((Diane))))
It's just as important for you to be taken care of right now as it is for
John and he is in good hands. You are also recovering from illness and need
the rest.
I'll keep John in my thoughts and prayers today and will look forward to
finding a positive post when I get home tonight.
Hugs,
Kelly C.

Sending prayers to both of you for healing and over all better health.
Please let John know that we are thinking of him and pulling for him!
Diane, you did the right thing by coming home to get some rest. You
need to keep yourself well rested and healthy, and John will also need
the time to rest a bit. As someone who has done the hospital routine
more times than I would like to think, it is always nice to have someone
you are close to and comfortable with there at the hospital, but not
100% of the time as both need the quiet time to rest/sleep and John will
need that alone time as well. You will serve the both of you best by
taking that time as needed to get some sleep for yourself and to allow
him that time as well.
Blessings to both of you and keep us posted as to how things work out
for John. Praying the doctors can get the bleeding stopped SOON!!!!
Hugs!

Prayers for sure. And prayers for you. And for the medic types to figure
out what is happening with him and to deal with it pronto.
Get some rest as best you can. He should be busy today getting rest of his
own, and getting tests etc. By this evening you will likely be better
company and he more in need of company. Besides, its time for the nurses to
take care of him for a while.

My thoughts are with you and John. For reasons I'm not going to go into
this scenario strikes a very personal chord with me. Please make sure
you take care of yourself through this difficult time, for both your sakes.
All the best,
Ari

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. To jump to the end
of the story, as a result of this I need a bone marrow transplant. Many
people around the world are waiting for a marrow transplant, too. Please
volunteer to be a marrow donor:

Please do not feel guilty. My husband is my caretaker when I am ill.
I have lupus.
During my last hospital stay a day or two ago...I told him not to
travel up there in the evening to see me. He had patients all day by
himself...had to cook for our kids....take care of household stuff. I
was laying in a bed being treated. I had a very obnoxious roommate
that would have been a pain during any visit I had with him.
He needed the rest. I told him when I got home I would need help
getting things done and making doc appts...so to rest up for that
instead. He felt very badly and showed up at pick me up with tons of
presents.
I REALLY wanted him to rest and not feel guilty. I had to have a
serious heart to heart talk...and let him know we had to take care of
him too.
You need your rest and your husband will insist on it!

On the way sweetie. Get some rest -- you will need it.
Guess your John is finding what both Harv and I found
when we tried to stop or lower a dose of the drug
holding us secure. There is such a thing as remission
and then there is a medicated remission. I had my
doctor's permission as well. sigh.
Hope he stabilizes quickly.
