Researchers at Oxford University in England have launched
an experiment to test whether belief in God is effective in
relieving pain.
The 2-year study will involve volunteers subjected to various
degrees of pain while exposed to images of different
religious symbols.
Neurological responses will be measured to determine how
effective their faith helpled them copy with the pain.

I can't see that looking at pictures is representative of someone's faith.

The idea of this study bothers me on so many levels.....
Not the least of which. Is there nothing you cannot get funding to study?
