Geez I am in pain all over. Can artificial hips hurt??? My elbows, hips and
back hurt. I think it's all the driving I do on the job. Put on 700 miles last
week. Any driving tips?? I'm having the maybe it's time to think disability
talk with myself. My boss is getting me dragon naturally speaking so I can
dictate all my patients instead of type which may help the elbows. Can ya get
disability if you are still working or do you have to quit the job and then
apply. I NEVER call in sick...does that mean disability is out entirely?
Obviously I'm confused but if my artificial hips are going bad I'm giving up on
employment.

I'm sorry to tell you that no, you can't get disability if you are
working. There is a five month waiting period from the day you are
disabled (able to work) to the time of being approved for SSDI.
However, does your state have temporary disability that you pay into - a
few states do. Do you have short time disability at work? Can you take
some sick time? Can you get a more gimp friendly automobile? Can you
drive less on your job? Should you check in with the docs and see what
can be done to make you hurt less? Gosh, I really feel bad for you and
have been there myself.

Have you tried different cushions to adjust your sitting position in the car
or maybe even a different car? I do so much better running errands in our
minivan than I do in the manual transmission subcompact. The latter just
takes so much more energy to drive and to get in and out of.
Could your doctor maybe give you an OT consult to get you some pro help at
making your car kinder to you?
then there's always the possibility of seeing if you could work parttime
instead. Less workload and more rest might be just the ticket for you.

You can have bursitis where you have artificial hips I think.

(((((((((((((((((kate)))))))))))))) oh, hon, i'm sorry you hurt so much.
it sounds very much like you need to have a long talk with your doctor about
all of this. maybe your meds just need adjusting? or something else is
occurring that can be easily taken care of? at least, i hope so, for your
sake.
prayers and healing thoughts being sent out for you.
