I was comparing notes with someone who is on MTX today and she asked me if I
felt cold all the time since I have been on it. I can't remember when the cold
started but my very marrow has been cold for a long time. I just cannot get warm
no matter what. I never thought of it being the med. Just wondered if anyone
else gets this?

I'm always warm Joan.  It drives Wendy crazy, but she has always been cold.
Even pregnant in August she had the electric blanket on.  So I figure
between the two of us, we're normal!

I have cold hands and feet, but I think it's more a circulation thing than
MTX.  No matter how cold it is, I still have a fan on to sleep.  I think
it's the white noise and the fact that I need the air circulating.

I just started MTX two weeks ago, and I have noticed a drastic
difference in temperature. Of course, it's probably because of the cold
wave :) actually, before the bitter cold hit, I'd be cold when I went
to bed, and wake up an hour or two later sweatin' like Richard Simmons
to the oldies.

I sure do seem to feel the cold much more since I've been on MTX. My wife
contends it is a symptom of old age and "whimpyness" but I am holding MTX to
blame :)

That's great that you're not letting old age get the credit. I have
noticed the last few days, I forgot to take my folic acid. I felt the
cold somethin' wicked. When I take it, it goes away. Are you taking
yours just before bed? If so, try taking it earlier.
Thart's all I have.

I was just going to ask about a cold and sinus and methotrexate. I seem to
have had one for quite a long time and a sore throat. The doc said I could
still take the mtx though, thought you weren't suppose to with a cold,
anyway I can not take folic acid supplements, I do it some kashi oatmeal
that has 400 of folic acid in it and I try and eat it 2 times a day, but
haven't been doing that lately.  The folic acid does a number on my bladder
as well as the other one that starts with  lev, I try and eat green leafy
veggies also, but was wondering if anyone else has these problems, I just
came from getting my enbrel filled FINALLY got enough courage, but if you
have a cold or sinus allergy stuff like I have can you start enbrel?
The doctor doesn't seem to concerned about any of it.
Thanks
Becky

Becky, it is my understanding also that it would not be best to start
on Enbrel with an infection. You can always call Enbrel and ask...they
have a service, Enliven I think it's called, but they are there and
available to answer any and all questions.
I have not experienced cold as a side effect of MTX...then again I have
only been on it this time for about two months, 6 pills per week. I am
also taking the leuvacorin (Sp?). And let's see, it's been on the
average of 95 degrees here it seems like forever...so the cold is
definitely not a problem for me.
I hope that you feel better soon,
Char
