Yep, its the old crudies.  My Dad started last Saturday and by Thursday I
had the sore throat.  today it is down in my chest and my head feels like
its stuffed with cotton.  I guess I will have to keep Carole company.  It
seems like nothing helps you just have to wait it out.  Please keep me in
your thoughts.  It would be better if I could rest, but I still have to take
care of Niki and Dad.

On the good side, I've just learned this week that our local hospital wants
me to do a showing of my photographs.  They have an art display in their
lobby and ask local artist to show their work.  I had to go through a
commitee to get approved so I'm excited about this.  It will be in the
middle of April.

Be careful Diane...that's how I started out, and I kept telling myself
it was "just a cold". Boy, was I wrong! And judging from what the doctor
said, it's going around.

auuuuwwww.  i'm sorry you feel so miserable. (((((((diane)))))) what's your
temperature, sweetie?  if you have a temp, don't even think about it, just
go, diane.  if your lungs feel like there's fluid in them or if they hurt
when you breathe, go.  if your sinus drainage is a yucky color, go.  if your
coughing makes your chest rattle or if when you exhale you wheeze, go.  if
you can't sleep because you're so miserable, go.   if you have ear drainage
or if your ears hurt, go.  if your throat hurts and doesn't look normal to
you (using a mirror, of course), go.   if you can't keep anything down, make
sure you drink lots of water and call your doctor.  if you have a raging
headache that nothing helps, go.  i'm sure others will come up with more
than i just did.  but for me, the question to ask youself is how bad does it
have to get, before you go?  it's always better for the doctor to catch
things early, rather than later.

If you are coughing up yellow stuff, GO. Or if you have a fever, or
shortness of breath, GO. (I went because I went to a local concert, and
afterwards we went out for coffee. When it was time to go back to the
car, I had to stop twice to get my breath and the car was only a block
and a half away. It scared the hell out of me). Also, if you get one of
those coughs where you feel like you are being turned inside out, GO.

I'm glad I went. I just wish I would feel better.  Maybe tomorrow :)

Hi Debbie,

Sorry to hear you got this too, but welcome to the club. And yes, you
just have to wait it out. I finished my antibiotics yesterday, but still
have my magical codeine cough medicine.

As for your photographs, that is SO exciting!!!  I'm also a photographer
on the side, and I'd love to be able to show my photos someday. I just
don't know how to go about doing it. I have some on my website
http://carolemartin.com but there are tons more around here, and
hopefully if I continue working, I'll have money to take little trips
around Washington this summer and do some more serious shooting :)

Feel better,

Carole,

Great pictures.  I love the panda and the gorilla. LOL  The scenery is
beautiful also.  My pictures are mostly scenery, butterflys, and flowers.
I've been going to our local college that is surrounded by woods trying to
get a decent deer picture for three years now.  The other day I lucked up
and got a clear shot of a deer running.  You would have to see it to believe
it.  All four feet are off the ground.  That's one of the secrets to
photography, shoot, shoot, and shoot some more. LOL.

Hope we all get to feeling bettter soon.  I can't wait until Spring.  I've
had enough of this crazy winter.

Relax like a panda !

We got the cold in the UK - as well. Invited a next door neighbour on
New Years Day and got it from him.
Sore throat, blocked nose, sinusitis all that rubbish.
Am coming out it now (I think). Missed a dose or two of enbrel as a
precaution but so far have avoided antibiotics.

When is an infection - a serious infection as per enbrel precautions ?
Oh and just what sort of infections are they talking about?
Hope you all get better fast.

Oh Debbie, I feel for you. I wish you had some help with taking care of your
father and daughter so that you could get rest and get better.

I hope you get to do a showing of your work also.

Oh my it almost sounds like a virus being spread by the puter with so many
of you coming down with it.

My heart goes out to you all. I still am not over mine either and i got it
right after xmas. Carole, Debbie, Debbies dad, Peter, Diane,
all of you, I hope you have a speedy recovery. Take care. Sending you all
lots of cyber chicken soup. Get plenty of rest, drink plenty of warm fluids,
and just take care. I will be thinking of you all.

If every one of you are coughing your heads off like Carole, it will sound

you know, that used to happen to me with every cold.  Then we joined
Gainesville Health and Fitness and I hit the steamroom all the time after
working out.  Bye, bye most colds and when I did get one it didn't turn into
an infection.  Haven't entirely figured out how to translate that into
everyday life, but if you ever have acces to a steamroom when you have a
cold, use it!

Hope that Z-pack fixes you right up!

Thanks :-)  I hope the prize is a good looking studmuffin (preferably
one who is also a massage therapist :)))  I could really use a good
massage right about now :))))

I still have the cough, but I am feeling better today. I actually took a
shower last night and washed my hair (I figured if I was going to die,
at least I'd like to look good when I went :)) and I think the steam did
me a lot of good. I'm wishing that I still had that facial thingee I
used to have that made steam, but I may look into getting a vaporizer,
if they are not too expensive. Right now I have to try to get back to
work tomorrow as I am already out a week's pay and the rent is coming
due. I have to get to the store and get things that I can either heat up
or eat at room temperature as I still can't eat or drink anything cold.
I'm just hoping this rain lets up a bit as getting drenched is not
appealing at this point, and it's POURING out there!

check second hand stores for vaporizers Carole.  Make sure they are clean
but here they are something that turns up quite regularly - used maybe once
or twice.  A new one here costs about $24.00 (BC)- not really very much.

Good idea Kelly. I have a super Salvation Army store near me and I
haven't been there for a while. If they are only $24 new, that's not
bad. I thought they were in the $75-80 range. I even saw one on the TV
last night that's like those room deodorizers...you just plug it into a
socket. Not sure how good it would be.

I've been up since 5:30am (slept most of yesterday), so I'm going to
attempt to go to work today. Wish me luck, and pray that I don't start
coughing on a phone call. I wish I had a nice desk job where I could
just sit and do paper work. Ah well :)

There's a homedics one on drugstore.com for like $22 (going on memory here!)
so with shipping it's still only about $30 - unless of course you find it in
a store for a better price.

Thanks, Nann. I am getting a bonus check on Friday so I'll have a bit of
spends. I'm going to get one of those, and maybe a mini food processor
as well :)

> Got my fingers crossed that work goes ok for you.

Well, the first day of work was OK. I kind of hit a wall at 4pm, and was
really glad that they offered us undertime. I immediately left and came
home. I sat on the couch and fell asleep until 8:30 last night. I went
into today and they let us go at 3pm. Normally I don't like to leave
early as it means less money, but this way at least I'm getting a few
hours in as I have no sick time yet. So now I'm going to relax :)

well, if you have to take undertime, at least it timed itself just right.  I
hope by the time you can handle a full day again fairly well they have work
enough to keep you there.  Treat yourself well and get as much rest as you
need and/or can.

Pot of steaming water in the Kitch can help out too you know. No need to buy
