Darn you folks in CA!   Central and northern Oregon are 60% of normal
snowpack and Washington is doing about the same.  I just checked the
snotel reports and it does not look good. -- MZ

We haven't gotten any snow by me at all. I've been praying for a snow
day as if they close the building I'd get paid for the day, but since I
have to call in sick (and don't have enough sick hours to cover all of
this), it's going to be a mega lean paycheck :(

we had a trace of snow a few days ago, here in federal way, carole.  but it
melted within a couple of hours.  my son keeps saying, "where's the snow?!"
i keep reminding him that we generally get our best snowstorms in february.
alex is like me when it comes to snow.  butch was funny about snow---used to
say " the first snowflake that hits me is god's fault, all the others that
hit me are my fault."LOL

They keep telling everyone at work to check the snow line, so every
night I check. Then when it says that the buildings are open, I have to
call the sick line. At this point, it looks like I won't be going back
to work until Tuesday since I'm not going in today or tomorrow and
Sunday and Monday are my days off.

Does anyone know how long it takes Z-pac to work? That's the antibiotic
the doctor gave me. She also gave me cough medicine with serious
codeine, which of course I cannot take and go to work since I tend to
fall fast asleep 15 minutes after taking it.

if what you have is a baterial infection and not a viral one, the z-pac
should kick in within 3 days.

y'know, for your future reference, carole--- for common colds, adelle's
suggestion of "zicam nasal spray" at the first signs of a cold, kicks butt
in 3 days.  it's the best cold medicine on the market i, or my son, have
ever tried.  that stuff is awesome!

And I just managed to shake off something using
Airborne. That stuff has saved my butt twice now.

Sorry you can't have it.

However the paper said that So Cal wants more of the No Cal water again.  OK
maybe, but you guys can darn well find a place to store it yourselves this
time.  They keep forgetting our dams and levees are supposed to be primarily
for flood control.

(Feeling generous given our great snow pack.  Won't be so happy if the
weather turns and it all decided to melt at once.)

Dontcha mean dam well?   Yeah they tried to make a grab for our
Columbia water as well fortunately that proposal didn't go south!  ;-)

A good storm predicted this weekend yeah!  There might be freezing
rain (boo) which I hate.   Snow is very rare in this area.  I am
headed to southern Or for the weekend need to put the sand tubes in
the back of my 4x4 pickup.  -- MZ

Heh, they tried to pull something like that in Florida.  Tampa wanted to pipe
the Suwannee River down to them to ease their water problems.  Luckily,
Florida has long had several autonomous water districts around the state and
legally our area had to agree to let Tampa do it.  Yeah, right, like we're
going to let them still the famed and scenic Suwannee!  Tampa even took it to
court, but the law held up.

Tampa's building a desalination plant now instead.

snotel's are having to dig themselves out, in tahoe.  they've got over 15
feet, with more falling.  they haven't had snow like that since 1972, when
butch drove for pargas and delivered propane to the bask-food restaurant
atop heavenly valley snow resort.  talk about a dangerous ski slope drive!
(to clarify that, not up the ski slope face, but the tight winding supply
road to the top).   poor guy had to shovel down to each and every elevated
propane tank, at every stop.

i really miss my cabin there, sometimes.  missed both monster snow
storm/accumulations too.  hmmm . . . have i got great timing or what?LOL

carson's socked in, too, according to my sister in law.  they're loving
being able to stay home and just relax.

(can't wait until we have some real snow on the ground here.  i so love the
almost spiritual hush it creates outside and the way it slows everything
down---the frenetic rush of life and living.)

We have a friend who drives for a distributor here in the Sacramento Valley.
His usual run is to Reno, where he is currently snowed in and getting paid
plus expenses.

I don't miss when Charlie did the beer run for Coors from Sacramento to
Truckee.

stuff.  Sure hope the thaw is a slow one.
