Hello everyone. I've been lurking here for quite some time. I'm on 20 mg. Methotrexate weekly, Arava, Plaquenil, Voltaren, and Folic Acid as far as RA drugs. Just got back my second abnormal liver enzyme labs. Three weeks ago, they were slightly elevated, now new results from this week have tripled from those. Labs have been ok up til now with the only changes having been going off Vioxx and Sulfasalazine and adding Voltaren and Arava. I'm waiting to hear from my RD tomorrow regarding what he wants to do with me now. Just wondering if there are any non liver toxic options out there. Cost of Enbrel or Humira can be $1100 to 1200 per month. Going with one or the other might take the stress off of the liver. Have you been on any of the biologic drugs (enbrel, humira, remicade,kineret) they all of side effects but so far liver issues are not one of them Karen > Hello everyone. My RD took me off of the Arava and Voltaren and I am to have the labs redone in a month. Thanks for all your replies. Angela, Are you taking Milk Thistle? Its worked and hasn't caused a problem. Jo John, I don't know what the right way is but I take mine when I eat along with other meds. The Spring Valley brand I take says preferably with meals. Usually it falls a bit after lunch and a bit after dinner, but not always. Works for me that way.
