Thanks Janet and Kate.
Can I also picture you holding my hand in the MRI. They won't let me do a
open one. I am so chicken. ;-)

Absolutely!
Close your eyes and breath slowly while you are in there. I imagined
I was on a tanning bed and in a neat bikini getting bronzed! Then I
imagined I was laying on the beach and closed my eyes because the sun
was so bright.
Do whatever you need to do in order to make yourself comfy.....play
mind games...their great!

Mind games are the only way to go. And it helps to have a few in mind
before you get there so you are ready to tune them out.
For me, the oldest stuff I have memorized works the best as it takes me to a
good time and place. Remembering poetry and Bible verses and songs I
learned as a child.
Then there is the old standby of remembering the name of everyone you ever
dated, or the details of every room of the house you grew up in etc.

(((((((((((((((sj))))))))))) you bet i'll be holding your hand! and i'll
give yours a very gentle squeeze, now and then, to remind you i'm there.
it's not an unpleasant experience, sweetie. will your doctor allow you to
take a tranquilizer, muscle relaxant or pain pill 30 minutes beforehand,
like mine did me? if so, do take it. it helps if you get uncomfortable
being in one position for any length of time.
aside from the interesting noises, that if you have a silly imagination you
can have alot of silly fun with, it's very well lit inside. it feels fresh,
new and softly bright. it even gently blows fresh air on you. somehow, i
think it was the oxygen mix in the air that cleared up my sinuses,
seriously. so, if you have an allergy/sinus thing going on, you might even
have that pleasant result ahead to look forward to.<smile>

(((((((((SJ))))))))))) I hope the tests lead to answers and treatment for
you. Hang in there, it'll be a long haul, but I have a feeling there ARE
better days ahead for you.
oh, and if Z answers giving you the divil for having all these tests done,
just hit delete and forget about it. He's becoming a real bore with his
rants.

Hiya, sorry about the late reply - just wanted to say keep in touch,
privately if you prefer. I have a close friend with a pituitary gland
tumour so if that MRI finds one you come right over here for a big hug. I
have broad shoulders just right for leaning on and lots practice with
midnight phone calls that start with "I can't sleep ...".
These things are very stressful but can be safely dealt with. Two years
into it and my friend sees her specialist regularly to have those pesky
symptoms dealt with and so far she is just fine. Stressed sometimes but
healthy and so far (knock wood) no surgery needed.
I know this won't get rid of all the stress of the coming week but maybe
having another shoulder to lean on will ease it just a little.

good luck tomorrow, jo. someone here once mentioned putting a folded
washcloth over her eyes during the mri and that it helped
psychologically. my brother just had an mri and i told him to try it.
he said it really helped. good luck, sweetie.
