Hi Guys!
Here I am! Sorry to make so many of you worry about me! Thanks
to those of you who took the time to call and leave messages for me!!!
Was up north for 4-5 days doing the christmas/new years thing with all
my family. We had an absolute ball and of course over ate. There
was sooooo much food. Can you tell I come from a family that loves
to cook?! LOL!!! I am sooo blessed by family and my 9 nieces and
nephews are such a joy to spend time with. Each and every one of them
brings smiles and laughter to me in their own special ways. Wow,
what a true blessing!!!
Anyways, happy new year to you all and hope you all had an equally
joyful holiday time!
I think I am getting too old for all of this partying with my family
though, as now I am sicker than a dog! Actually about half of us are
pretty sick and trying to figure out how we got sick as EVERYONE was
totally healthy the whole time we were together! Go figure!!!
Anyways, I spent all of yesterday at the ER getting lots of breathing
treatments and IV steroids. Was diagnosed with strep throat and
pneumonia-----ugggggh! I am really feeling pretty lousey! My
throat has never been so sore ever and I can't breathe at all laying
down! I am on an increased pred burst, increased nmt schedule,
antibiotics, and cough syrup w/hydrocodone in it. Anyone have any
good suggestions at all, though, for easing the pain of such a severe
sore throat??? My throat is bothering me more than anything and is
soooo swollen. Doctor said it really looked pretty nasty yesterday
with all kinds of white stuff in the back! All I know is that it is
majorly sore! I am up for any suggestions!
Just got a call from my brother up north. My mom was just admitted to
the hospital with pneumonia and a nasty sore throat and my brother
himself is pretty sick with the same thing as well. Guess the whole
family is getting too old to be doing all of this partying
anymore....lololol!
Well, that's about it for me, gotta go rest and take some more drugs!
Happy new year and hope everyone is staying indoors during this very
snowy, blustery day! We are expecting 8-12 inches of the white stuff
today!
Hugs!

Glad yer back, Donna,
The thing I use with my sons is Chloraseptic spray. It numbs the throat
for a while to give you relief. I became really good at spraying only the
back of the throat on the youngest and missing his tongue. :-) The stuff
doesn't taste good but it sure does numb!
Feel better soon. I'm on the tail end of the flu so thank goodness I'm
nowhere near you.

Wow! Great to see you back! With all the health issues you've been
having I was really getting concerned. I was thinking "not again!" As it
is, looks like you did kinda overdo but when you're with family, it's
easy to do.
For throat probs, I gargle with warm salty water and use Chloroseptic
spray.
Sorry to hear about your mother and brother being so ill, too.
Yep, you just gotta stop burning the candles at both ends.
Take care and thanks for updating us (I'll check another certain ng
momentarily).

I was just thinking this morning that I hadn't seen you here for a while. I
was about to become one of those leaving messages. Glad to hear you were
(mostly) off having fun.
There's been a lot of stuff going around up here so someone in your family
must have been incubating and spreading some germs. Our volunteer church
secretary was laid up with bronchial pneumonia for a solid 3 weeks. Like
you, she has chronic lung disease and it really laid her out. (Just our luck
that the copy machine was acting up at the same time! Mike and I had to
figure out how to do stuff over Christmas.)
For the sore throat, I generally go ahead and take whatever I am allowed in
pain meds to help with it. Also, steam can help some and even warm moist
wraps around your neck sometimes help. If you can get it, Chloraseptic spray
numbs the throat some for a while. I haven't used it in a while as I never
have it when I need it, but I think it's still out there.
And from my singing stepdaughter, lemon or licorice tea. She used to go for
the lemon but has recently said the licorice is better. She's got Mike sold
on the licorice too. (I don't much care for licorice though......)

Warm very salty water gargled. And the pharmacy has OTC
stuff that can be sprayed on. Also in Health Food
stores a tea called Throat Coat or some such will
really help if you can stand the taste. It is really
awful but you can tell the amount of pain of the sore
throat by the amount of that stuff you can actually
drink. rofl
But start with the warm salty water.

Now Donna, didn't I tell you not to get sick while you visiting your
folks?? Seriously, I hope you feel better soon!!
As for the sore throat, I've always had better results from sipping on
really cold liquids and holding the liquid in my throat/mouth. I
think the coldness helps to reduce the inflammation and makes things
feel better.
Feel better soon Donna!!!!!! I'm thinking of you!!

hey, you have the right to Party. Sounds like you had a nice family
visit but you take care of those lungs and throat. I know you know the
routine. Now if you don't check in we will be worried.
The only thing that helps my throat with strep is a warm salt water
gargle. i have also used slippery elm bark and that numbs it but it can
take some getting used to.
heal quickly...

Donna,
I am glad you got family time. That is good to hear. But not good to hear
that you and family are ill now. Too much of a good thing huh. ;-)
Donna, Donna, Donna, what are we going to do with you. We need you to stay
healthy. You are starting to sound like someone I know. ;-)
I hope your Mom and Brother and you are all doing better now.
I hope the anitb's, pred, etc will help you heal quickly.
Sending hugs, TLC and chicken soup your way.
