And so was I! Man this guy is good. Last thing I remember is the dr
telling me he was giving me a "morning cocktail". Then I was talking to the
nurse about how long it was going to take and she told me they had been done
for 10 minutes! I don't remember a thing but apparently I was talking up a
storm until they finally said they couldn't work on me if I was talking. Too
funny. All went well. It stopped bleeding around 4pm and I was able to eat
mac and cheese for dinner on the other side of course. Pain minimal. The
dr said it was "really nasty in there" but the bone was strong and not
infected like the other tooth. But the infection was worse. I've been
fighting with these two teeth for three years. I always felt like the
infection originated from this tooth in the first place but of the four
doctors involved, (2 endodontists, 1 oral surgeon and one regular dentist
there were different opinions. The oral surgeon was the only one who ever
gave thought that they both were impaired. After he pulled the first one he
even said something about "if the back tooth makes it." In the end, both
teeth had multiple root canals and both had to be extracted. They were the
last two teeth on the bottom right. So it's done. Didn't need a bone graft
this time so no stitches. Hoping it will heal as well as the other one does
and that my general health improves. Didn't give me as much steroid this
time. 8mg of decadron which is about 42 of medrol. Hey - I'll take it.
Joints feel good. Gave me IV antibiotics as well as feel good drugs. I still
feel a bit wozzy from them. So I'm laying low and watching tv while I drift
off to sleep.
Have to stay off Enbrel for todays and the next shot so it's a good thing I
got the steroid boost.
Hope everyone else is having an ok day!

I hope the infection is going away. This morning there is still puss on the
side of the gum. That worries me!

boy, that'd worry me too. are you saying more, about the same or less? if
it isn't less, keep an eye on your temp and if you have headaches, sweetie,
or if your ear or sinuses start hurting. hopefully, they gave you more
antibiotics to take at home. a one time shot of abx is kinda cool and it's
generally potent stuff iv, but with that visual, if it doesn't look or feel
better in a day or two, i'd be on the phone, without wasting much time about
it.

thanks for reminding me to take my temp. I've been feeling generally crappy
all day and just writing it off as the hangover effect of the surgery but
then I've gotten this headache this afternoon. So I took my temp. 99.9
which isn't a lot but then as we all know, steroids can mask the true temp
level. So I'm going to keep my eye on it. He gave me oral abx to take for 5
days as well as the iv stuff so I'm covered there. Just takes awhile.
Keeping an eye on the pocket on the side of my tooth. No more pus since this
morning.. Doing my salt water rinses and sleeping. What more can a girl do.
Thanks again!

So glad it is over for you. hope you keep improving and there is no
infection. did they tell you you could rinse with warm salt water? that
always seems to help ease pain and clean out infection

Good riddance to that tooth! I hope you feel much better with it gone. The
pus may just be continued draining of the old infection. Hopefully that will
stop soon too.

Glad that it was a good experience..A good dentist is as great as a good
Rheumy....One that doesnt' hurt you ...Priceless....
Praying you feel better now...I know today it will probably be sore, but the
steroids and pain pills will go along ways...

Diane W,
I hope you are doing much better now. I have been thinking of you alot about
this tooth issue and what it could be doing to your body.
I am wondering if you should have had a course of antibotic treatment to
make sure the infection was totally gone.

I'm still on abx for another few days but plan on calling the dr about the
infection still being there. There is still a pus pocket on the side of the
gum where the tooth was. But first I have to go to my gp cause I've got
bronchitis really bad all of a sudden. And a low grade fever. Woke up with
it yesterday and been fighting asthma like stuff since then. Used the
nebulizer and dosed up on all that crap but still have wheezing and
tightness in my chest. This can't be good. Don't want pneumonia again. Hubby
was sick with this all last week. I tried to avoid him and lysol everything
he touched but I guess it wasn't enough. Off enbrel since last Friday so I
guess I'm staying off it for a bit longer. Now I'll know exactly how much
good it was doing me when the steroid boost I got from the oral surgeon
wears off. Oh isn't this fun???

Oy. Tell your doc about the tooth extraction and continuing pus while your
at it. It seems to me that if the infection isn't cleared out it can cause
other problems in your body. I forget the details, but it was a concern with
my abcessed tooth. They insisted on lots of antibiotics for three weeks
before they'd operate on the abcess.

Well my doctor said to continue the clindomyicin for my tooth and gave me
zithromax for my lungs. Said a bit of wheeze and fluid in there and also my
bp was sky hi. Don't know why. Gonna check it here in a bit. Could be from
the nebulizer treatments. I was fairly certain that my lungs had fluid in
them. Gosh -- it was so fast too. Glad I went to the dr today.
The pharm said that I might want to hold the clindomyicin till I'm done with
the z pack cause of some research with e-myicin and clindomyicin having some
unspecified reactions. Sure don't want any of those but the dr knew I was
taking both. I even asked him if it was ok to take both and he siad yes.
Hmmmm. Now I don't know what to do. All I want to do is go to bed.

Thank you for you good wishes! I wish I could say all is well but it is not
yet so. I still have bronchitis and wheezing although today's lung x-ray was
"negative" Dr changed me to a new abx. The tooth is still oozing gunk on
the side of the gum and I see the dr for that next week. Maybe it's supposed
to drain. Canceled two ortho appts this week. Just felt to crappy to go.
Supposed to be well by early Feb cause hubby is taking me to Mexico for a
week on his annual company trip! I've got just under a month to get over
this junk and back on the Enbrel so it can kick back in again.

I think it should have all drained by now. I've been through two major
abcesses and neither one has drained for this long. Sounds like there's some
more cleaning out to do and I hope that makes a big difference in how you
feel. Gotta get you well to enjoy the sun in Mexico!

Diane W,
Please take real good care of yourself. This is a nasty bug that is going
around. So many are having to do several course of antib's and it still
seems to linger around.
I hope you do get to feeling better real soon.
I sure hope you will be better so that you can go on the trip.
I hope you will be able to get back on the Enbrel real soon.
