I've got a question, I take mtx and humira, does anyone know of or had
ringing in their ears. Some days it gets on my nerves so bad, I have to
have the tv blearing loud just NOT to hear the ringing. then at night I have
to have a wave sound machine just to rest my head.
Thanks

I have tinnitus constantly and have for several years now. I've gotten used
to it. In my case it's likely damage to the little joint in there from RA.

Hi Tina, yes I have it also. It's called tinnitus and there are many
causes. The doctors have never decided what caused mine which came on
suddenly about three years ago. I have gotten more or less used to it
and the only time it really bothers me is in a quiet room. I usually
keep music or the radio on all day and I sleep with the radio playing
softly.

Are you also taking anti-inflammatories? ringing in the ears is a
common side effect.

I have that problem, but it's not from meds.
You should go and have a hearing test and to see if you may have
tinnitus.
I agree, the ringing is mind boggling at times.

I've had this for years. It doesn't bother me much during the day, but is
always there if I stop to think about it. It is worse at bedtime. And it
has something to do with lying down, not with the lack of surrounding sound.
I usually manage to ignore it. I know the water isn't running and the fan
on the furnace isn't that loud. Besides, I'm deaf and can't hear those
things for real anyway. Once in a while I have to get up and sit it out
till it quiets down and I'm more ready to go to sleep.

I lost the hearing in my right ear...Acute sudden hearing loss. No apparent
reason..maybe a virus...But eversince then I hear a constant shhhhhhhh
sometimes it is louder than other times...sometimes it really gets on my
nerves. I have FM and am very sensitive to noise...alot of times it feels
almost painful to listen to music...But that constant shhhhhhh in my ear is
so aggravating

I have that on and off. I've had it continuously when I was on the
salicylate group of NSAIDs (the tinnitus was so bad I wasn't on that group
for long!. I also had it when I was taking Sulfasalazine. Now it seems to
vary with allergy problems, fatigue, how mesed up my neck is at the time, and
probably some other factors I don't know about.
