She came through it with flying colors. They had her off the vent in
less than 24 hours. My daughter says she looks great. The EKG is normal.
:-) They're talking of taking a couple of the drainage tubes tomorrow.
BTW she's in Iowa. I'm in New Jersey. I sure wish I could be there. I
call my daughter everyday and she's got a blog courtesy of the hospital
there that she updates, now more than ever.

University of Iowa Childrens Hospital in Iowa City. I don't know Iowa so
I just looked up the towns on Mapquest. It gives 147.85 miles so it's
not exactly around the corner. That's from city limit to city limit (I
didn't use exact addresses on either end).

I have worked with transplant patients before and I remember the look and
the attitude of the patient after transplant and you will never meet a more
grateful and positive person ever. I would say that is the best gift anyone
who is departing can give another is the gift of a healthy organ. I remember
talking with this one lady two weeks after the transplant and she had a new
outlook on her life not only did she say that she was going to treat every
minute as her last but that she was going to savor every moment as well. We
all should live like that. I like the old saying "stop and smell the roses".
This just reminds me that it is high time I do so.
