Hello folks,
A happy and healthy new year 2005 for every ASA member.
I am on 15 mg MTX injectable weekly, 3 mg medrol per day and 550 mg Apranax
(Natrii naproxenum) per day.
I read that not only the Cox-2 inhibitors Viox, Celebrex, Bextra ...are
dangerous for our heart but also most nsaids. Naproxen is a nsaid. My home
doc suggest to stop the apranax with I did now during 4 days.  Oh boy, I can
feel that and it is very hard...especially in the morning my neck,
shoulders, elbows and wrists are hurting like hell. I asked my doc to
prescribe something else and I suggested Feldene Lyotabs (20 mg piroxicam).
What do you think, is this a good choice? Or can you do a better suggestion?
Many thanks in advance!

hi will.  a happy and healthier new year to you, as well.

i'm hoping your home doc is a rheumatologist.  it's is probably best to
address and discuss, in depth, these concerns of yours with your
rheumatologist.   all drugs have potentially harmful effects, which is why
we all need to be under a doctor's supervision/monitoring when taking
whatever is prescribed for us.    as to the cox2 and nsaid situations that
have recently been in the news, it's best to sit back and wait to see what
the final evaluations on them determine.  i'm sure your doctor is watching
for that closely, along with millions of other doctors.

drugs work in different ways for different individuals, so those of us on
asa really can't determine what would work better for you than something
else.  you're best bet is to give your doctor the details about how you are
feeling and where in your body and how it is affecting you and your ability
to function during the course of a typical day for you.

hope that helps.

Hey Wil. Happy 2005 for you as well.
I've been on Feldene for nearly ever [since I left the
14 aspirin a day behind me]. I know it is hard on some
people's tummy's but not mine. And it did with one pill
what the 14 aspirin was failing to do. That was before
even gold was added to the mix. Course I now have
Remicade and Arava on board to replace that gold.
