Hello,

Any of you with OA and have been classed as  DJDD have you been
subscribed Avinza?  If so how did it work for you?  I'm having some good
and some badreactions to this stuff.  I would appreciate feedback.

I was thinking he added "J" for "joint" (not the kind people smoke).  <g>

Oh ok...I have DDD. (I bet that extra "j" would make me feel better!
ROFL)   Let me go back and reply to him.

Hi Butch...
I have DDD (which I believe we are talking about the same thing --
osteoarthritis of the spine) There are others here with much more
knowledge then I have on that subject.

I take Methotrexate, Plaquenil, and Prednisone for arthritis control.
I use Ultracet for pain.

I have other condition besides DDD and see an RD every 3 weeks....but
I have not heard of Avinza.  I used to take Bextra...but they pried my
stash out of my monkey-fingered hands and said "NO MORE"...(can you
tell I am still having a little attitude about that?)

Tell us what type of drug Avinza is and how it is working for you.

I also have that...But most of the drugs help about as much as an
aspirin...I also have Fibromyalgia and I take Lortab for pain..Suppose to
take the Bextra, but like I said, I could tell nada difference and for the
cost and side effects, it wasn't worth it...I take plain old IBuprofen which
is hard on the stomach, but I think it leaves my heart alone and really
doesn't do that much anyways...

I was taking Indocine - Rx strength of Ibuprofen - from 1977
until switching RD in 2000.  The first thing he did was write
a 'script for Bextra - no difference.   Then it was Celebrex -
no difference.  Next, Flexeral (sp), which caused my skin to
split in several places as if a razor had slashed it.  That was
the ONLY time I've had a negative reaction to a drug.

Nowadays, a few studies seem to bear out that OTC's are
as good as the later, more expensive, prescription drugs.

I agree.  When Alleve first came out...I took it not knowing it was an
NSAID.  It worked better than Rx I had previously taken.  I had
reactions within a few days and my docs explained to me that Alleve
was naprosyn.  But for those few days it worked great!

When my gout acts up or my shoulders begin screaming loudly...I take a
3 day course of Alleve or Indocine.  I cannot do it very often, but it
works quite nicely.

hi butch.

i have degenerative disk disease and degenerative joint disease, too--severe
c-1 thru T-1 that i know for certain about.  i'm allergic to morphene, so i
can't take avinza.

what kind of "bad reactions" are you having with this drug?  and have you
informed your rd about them?  you need to keep your doctor informed about
any side effects you are having from any drug s/he prescribes for you.
