My 20 month old granddaughter Aryanna, who has been waiting since January 9th, 2004 (in the hospital since December 13th, 2004) is getting a new heart today. What a way to usher in the new year! :) God bless the donor family that thought of others through their grief. What a way to usher in the new year. :( Please keep them in your prayers for her surgery (which she is undergoing as I write) and her aftercare and for the donor family. Thanks. We had a friend whos 7 yr old had one and she is doing fine. she has to be check every 6 months. and God bless your family and we will pray for you. How wonderful! I worked around pediatric heart patients 25 years ago and it's amazing to see what could be done and so sad when the medical staff didn't succeed. One baby I will never forget would have lived if a heart transplant had been possible for her then. She almost made it anyway, despite multiple major heart defects. How marvelous that your granddaughter was born in a time of such medical miracles. Please keep us posted on her progress. Great news! My Boss's daughter had one after a Dr mis-diagnosed her "flu" which turned out to be a virus that attacked her heart. She had her transplant about 4 years ago and is doing quite well. She went from not being able to walk to the mail box to walking miles. Hopefully your Granddaughter will be as blessed. What a wondrous gift from the donor family!
