I can not  get into where the pics are. The message I get is: Sorry,
doubloonyjan has not enabled any public albums in their account.

Oh, neat! Can I come watch if I promise to keep my hands in my pockets? I
won't even ask a million questions...maybe just 100.<g>

Sure you can watch...as long as you bring some chocolate.  I have a
drawer full of sweets hidden in that room...hehe.

I love the picture of the glass strips - I can only imagine how they would
look in sunlight, reflecting all that colour across the room

well?

Yep...they are all glass.  I use all kinds of glass.  Having just
started, I am still a novice...When I grow up I want my beads to take
after Corina Tettingers! (www.corinabeads.com) It takes LOTS of
practice, but I love doing it so much!

BUT...I love glass buttons too!!!  I have been eye-balling a button
mold for making buttons!

I just love buttons. I have antique ones and left over
ones and pearl ones and .....  Just bought some South
America nut buttons for a jacket I am making. Short of
NYC or SF, here is my nice source.

BTW, one of my favorite antique buttons are my flower
buttons. A round ball with a tiny flower embedded like
a tiny paperweight. No idea how they are done but they
are my favorite.

Very nice looking.  Brings back memories of the beads Scout
leaders obtain for attending different training sessions - initial,
roundtables, Pow Wow - and for leading those classes.

Now, what was referred to as "a noisy, usually mischievous,
ghost held responsible for unexplained noises?"

Is that the kiln itself?  <g>
Janet R - 01 Jan 2005 04:30 GMT
Yes...it is my Kiln....it has a ghost that unfortunately killed it
today!  It was turning itself on???!

It suffered an untimely death...it was brand new!  Just outta the
box...booohoooooooo.....I never even used it once.

Calling the company Monday morning!

beautiful stuff!  Ok, so where can we buy your beads?  It's only 4 months
until my mom's birthday.............

looking at your photos makes me want to drop my current sewing projects and
start the playing with mosaics I've wanted to do since we went to Italy.  But
Mike neds those cassocks and the chair really needs recovering.......
eventually, I'll get to have more fun.

hmmmmmmm, part of me says "We need to talk!" and part of me says "don't
accumulate more stuff for mosaics until you get the necessary sewing done."

all this talk got me looking at some mosaic art sites - I'm into the real art
type mosaics, not the weekend craft type.  now I'm envisioning a mosaic on a
clear background, made with glass pieces, grouted with clear poly and maybe
hung in a window like stained glass.........  I think we need to talk!  Don't
throw away your trash pieces yet!

w0w.  cooooool.  talk about a fun hobby!  thank you for taking the pictures
and sharing them.  i love the worms.  your beads are beautiful.  can dolphin
or orca beads be made of glass?  do they have to have molds or would
something like that be made with droplets of glass (can you tell how totally
ignorant i am about the process?<giggling>)

kate
(you've inspired me to get my butt in gear and look harder for another
stained glass class.)

Now I didn't make that....I'm still practicing making my beads round!
LOL  But yes, you can make them with dolphins or whales.  There are
certain artists that make aquarium beads...they look like a fish tank
with tiny fish and plants inside!

To make them, you use different sized rods of glass and different
temps of heat....and build your design up.  The molds are for the
overall shape of the bead only...no fancy designs (yet).

those orca beads are toooo cool.

so, virtually, you are sculpting glass.  that's fascinating.   hey, anybody
can make rounnnnnnd beads!LOL<like i would know>  i think educated mistakes
are the most interesting and fun in most of my own creative endeavors, none
of which involves glass, of course. ???
