my doc had me put off my remicade infusion because my WBC is 3.8. it's been 10
weeks now since my last infusion and my WBC remains the same. anyone else been
in this position? my RD suggested i see my hemotologist. i really didn't want
something else to worry about.  :-(

I found this on a lab test site.  Looks like just having an auto-immune
disease can cause a low WBC count.  I hope you can get some definitive
answer to it from the doctors.

(A decreased WBC count is called leukopenia. It can result from many
different situations, such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or
diseases of the immune system. A count of 3.0–5.0x109/L cells would be
considered mild leukopenia.)

Diane - It's leukopenia - I've had it for ages.  They tell me I have chronic
anemia.  Yeah, like I didn't know.

Hugs! DeeTee

((((((((((diane)))))))))) not everything is something to worry about---gee,
remind me i said that, won't  you?<g>  it's probably a good idea to see your
hemotologist just to get it out of the way and put your mind at ease.  i'm
sorry there's one more straw on the camel's back for you, hon.  hopefully,
it's just a temporary straw.

I have low WBC intermittently  and my Dr thought it was due to the RA.
I would guess the Arava could also cause it.  I would check in with an
Hemotologist ASAP because having out of control RA could make it
worse.  Hopefully you will be on Humira soon????   My first guess
would be RA. -- MZ

LOL that's like double mine hehe

Remicade has a side effect of lowering WBC either through lowering
leukocytes or neutrophils (or both I would presume). What are your
neutrophils at?

Offhand, I'd say he's being overly cautious, but I'd go and see the
haematologist.

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. To jump to the end
of the story, as a result of this I need a bone marrow transplant. Many
people around the world are waiting for a marrow transplant, too. Please
volunteer to be a marrow donor:
