I have been praying for Melinda, and all those people over there. I
can't even imagine what it must be like in that area.

I agree Carole. The news today did say they were being really careful with
all the relief people and they would be immunized up the yingyang.
Hopefully they will keep Melinda on the outskirts due the immunity problem.
They are saying we may never know the numbers or the names of who perished.
They are now doing mass burials quickly to prevent disease. The initial
report said 3 Canadians dead but the news today said over 100 unaccounted
for. Lots of prayers and donations coming from all over Canada.

the numbers are mind boggling and heartbreaking. i just heard on the news
that thailand will be doing mass cremations tomorrow. leaders have called
in hundreds of forensic experts to identify the bodies, but that there are
so many that many will never be identified. sri lanka is mass burying.
also heard on the news that thousands of americans (from north, central and
south america, i presume) are missing, too.

Saw someone in Sri Lanka that had microchips that they
were inserting into bodies before they were buried [and
I assume taking DNA to match with the chip for later.
Gets the bodies buried while allowing families to
possibly find their loved one later. Boggles the mind.

si, si. It must be so completely overwhelming. We tend to hear totals, but
even in each country the numbers are of dead and displaced are so large.
The stories are incredible. Someone who grew up at the dancing studio my
sister used to be at was in Thailand with his fiancee. His parents saw the
owner of the bungalows where they were staying on TV talking about how all
the buildings had been swept away. Didn't hear from Jason until the next
day. Turned out they'd left on an early morning snorkeling trip and were at
sea when the tsunami hit. They stayed for a couple of days to help out, but
left as the "pros" came in to do relief work.

to everyone no matter what the diaster.
