Celebrex attack!

Who is it that is after the drug companies who produce Vioxx, Celebrex
et AL.? If you take 400mg + of ANY drug you will have side effects.
What about us that take 200-300 mg? I took Vioxx for 5 years, have high
blood pressure and was able to function. They finally produce something
that helps arthritis sufferers and BINGO. Unbelievable!

So far they are NOT pulling Celebrex. They were doing studies to she what
it did for cancer and found a risk for heart problems. Not a huge risk.
But high enough that they did not continue the cancer study. Not the same
as saying the risk is unacceptable for those who are being helped with
arthritis.

I'm glad you have been getting relief. I had to quit all the NSAIDS after
several years as they all started pushing up my blood pressure and making my
feet swell to the point the relief was a wash.

Check all your meds that end in the letter "x"? I was given a muscle
relaxant but it upset my stomach. A medication, Imuran, which was given
for my lupus and arthritis and to get me off prednisone, made me deathly
ill with vomiting and diarrhea. The doctor said to stop taking it. In
Missouri my rheumy put me on Plaquenil to get me off prednisone.

I am getting lidocaine shots once a month in addition to taking OTC pain
relievers and using lidocaine patches.

Hi Nell,,, IMO it takes more than Plaquenil to control Lupus. I know that
sometimes its hard to find a medicine that our body will put up
with,,,,Kitty taught us that. I also know that Lupus is much worse than RA
in attacking a persons organs. Do you have the time left to just use
patches and OTC stuff? I pray that you do and a trip to an RD is needed.

Lupus requires a VERY GOOD RD. I have had it since I was 12 and have
been on plaquenil (among 8 other drugs) for years. I have had liver,
heart, lung, brain, gastro, and mild kidney involvement. But nothing
too serious due to my RD's aggressive treatment. He does lab work
every month and treats accordingly. I see a cardiologist,
nephrologist, urologist, gastrologist, internist, and orthopeadic doc
at least yearly.

Its the "ounce of prevention" thingey!

Im sure its the same with RA...you have to get Lupus before it gets
you whenever possible.
