I think the real meaning of Christmas has to be the little unexpected acts of
kindness and generosity. I got a tree today! It was delivered to my house by
FedEx and it is alive and already has lights on it and is beautiful. It was a
gift from my darling Patty. It was unexpected. It was perfect. It
symbolizes light that always returns.
Shortly after finding this beautiful tree a home in my living room, watering
her, and playing her some christmas songs, the mailman came and delivered
another package from Linda, DeeTee's daughter. I opened this box and there
were many magical candles with many scents and again the light returns.
It is these unexpected gifts that come from the heart that so embrace both
this season and the willingness of humans to reach out and connect. There have
been so many of these bits of magic through the years and for some reason, they
always arrived just when I need them
These meanderings actually have a purpose. This group of people known as ASA
are really quite special and a little unusual as a usenet group. I think the
constant willingness to reach out in real time is something that permeates this
group and makes things slightly different than most cyber groups.
...and so I sit here, heart full, proud to be a member of ASA and of humanity
and in love with life-

This is great M, I am glad to hear about the way the day went for you. That
is nice of Patty to do that for you. Also that is great that Linda did send
you some candles also. What a great day.
I feel the same about this group. The gifts of cards and stamps have been
coming in on days that i need to be reminded why I need to still be here.
I have gotten more packages this month then I have in a life time. That says
something for this groups caring. It also says something for my life before
here too. ;-)
I am also proud to be a member of ASA. You are one heck of a terrific group
of caring and loving people. I am proud to know you all.

How wonderful! Patty and Linda once again show us what sweethearts they are.
(Yes, DeeTee, I'd be loudly claiming Linda too! And guess where she learned
to be so thoughtful?)
This is the first year EVER that Mike and I have had room for a Christmas
tree. For a while in FL we decorated my Norfolk Island pine, but it finally
got too large to protect from the cold and died in a hard freeze. We always
enjoyed the tree at my parents, though.
Now, we not only have space for one, but even have a truly ideal location.
Yesterday we went out to a local tree farm and cut our own tree, in the snow,
for $15. By now, all the ice should be off it and we can start decorating it
today. Who would think that having a dead tree in your house would bring
such delight?
