ASC-P FAQ  4.3  [Part I - Intro]

Wherever one goes there are those who want control and those who
refuse to be controlled, it is pronounced on Usenet and in this
newsgroup it has become a dirtier game than anywhere else I have been
in my 20 years of this.

These flame wars get started by a few anal retentive individuals who
have a misplaced need to gain celebrity by trying to police a
medium that cannot be policed. As one would expect, these wound tight
busybodies fail miserably, frustration sets in, anger follows, and
soon they publicly self destruct. And once they do, revenge becomes
their only option and their entire online existence.

In this newsgroup the reasons for so many control freaks sinking to
such extreme unethical lows is due in part to pain, too much time on
their hands, and too many opiates and alcohol unning through their
systems.

This newsgroup often falls into such angst it has become an ugly
circus built upon a few people's all consuming need to control others
because they cannot stand hearing what they personally do not like
hearing. It manifests itself by these losers taking it upon themselves
to decide whose pain is sufficient to participate here. In 2001 they
were in control of this newsgroup. Though not a few people stood up to
them, namely Codeee and Rack Jite (and subsequently Juba) who they
blame for their demise. Things went smoothly for a few years until
2003 when it all began again. And they lost again. And now it has come
to dominate the newsgroup once again here at for the Holidays of 2004.
This vindictive burn it down crap will probably go on until hell
freezes over. Its the nature of the Beast.
