I would like to thank you all for the wonderful advice on helping me to
choose a mattress. I was really touched that so many people took time to
write back to me, and so quickly too. I'll let you know how we make out.

I actually got my new memory foam mattress today, so will let you know
how it goes with that.

At first it felt a little too firm, just an oddness- since it does not
move the way a spring mattress does. IN t he night though, when i woke
up I felt really cozy- sort of cocooned in. I thought it would be a
problem to turn, but it was not.

Perhaps my S-I area feels better today too. It is  hard to say after
only one day.

One thing I would like to say is that these new mattresses are high,
and so if you are getting a steel mattress frame- check into a low
rise as the bed may be too high with a regular frame. Mine seems quite
high and I am debating whether to exchange it for a low rise or not. I
will have to do some thinking on it. I did not see everything together
ahead of time since the mattresses were specially ordered. This is a
Sealy SANG system.

I have a regular double bed.  Bob laughs every time he sees me "climb into
bed" with my short little legs.  If I sit back so my knees are properly
supported, my feet don't hit the floor.  If I scoot forward so I touch the
floor, my legs are extended. LOL

I have been wanting to try one of the memory foams.  Let us know how you
feel after about a month.

I will.
The one I have is really very firm, and it is as if every part of your
body is supported. At first when I lie down it seems too firm almost,
but then it soon seems to be bery cozy. I had a good mattress before,
a Sealy posturepedic Luxury firm- but it is already 20 + years old and
I needed a better spare bed.

I live in a tiny beachside town called Indialantic, just over the bridge
from Melbourne. I'm almost due east from orlando. When the shuttles fly I
watch them on TV until they lift off and then go out in my back yard and
watch them go up. It's really nice if you're into that. My hobby is sea
kyaking. In the summer I launch off the beach real early so I can sit a
couple of miles off shore and fish while I watch the sunrise. It's the most
peaceful thing I've ever known.
Sorry for rambling - thats 10 times what you asked for.

It makes a very nice picture.  My parents spent a lot of time in Melbourne
Beach after they retired.  Walking on the beach and surf fishing.

Joe, We lived in Grand Island, between Eustis & Leesburg, for about 11 years
until 2000.  We were 50 miles from Orlando and I loved living there.

Oh, nice area!  You have me thinking about Indian River fruit now..... just
got a load of tangelos from my mom yesterday and we've been enjoying them!

(I'm a Gainesville native and have been watching the snow pile up here in
upper lower Michigan!)

My son suffers from Crohns Disease so I've spent a lot of time at Shands
hospital in Gainesville. I also used to do a lot of work for the City of
Leesburg. Did you know that Leesburg City Hall is haunted?

Joe, I used a doctor in Leesburg and went there for PT, but I never heard
about the ghost!

That is the anguish of taxpayers opening their wallets.

hmmm, didn't know that at all and we've driven through Leesburg sooooooo many
times (my husband and I used to go down to Orlando several times a year - to
the opera and to work art shows, not to see the Mouse).  Don't rightly recall
the City Hall though, is it actually on 441?  That's about all of Leesburg I
know.

I worked at Shands, on and off, for years in several different capacities.
Been gone altogether since August '99 though.  Last job was a part-time unit
clerk on the GI floor...... lots of crohns and other GI ailments.  (one thing
I can say about Shands, the employee benefits are *good* - of course, like
any hospital nowadays, they do work you to death.)
