The stove is working inside the boat and our work has slowed down for today
because of the heat!!!!!
We lit it for the first time yesterday and we were cooking within a very
short time. (Not food cooking............ bodily type!)
We went for our first sail today.... down to the car park at the wharf to
empty the car of some of the bits and pieces we have been buyibng whilst
living in the caravan. It was really nice to see a bit of the wintery
skyline from the canal. A couple of swans and moorhens accompanied us and we
never hit one other boat despite the canal being a bit narrow with all the
other narrowboats filling up with water and fuel. Our new neighbours called
round with a large glass of port to welcomne us to the canal community and a
bottle of blackberry wine and the rest of the port bottle later we decided
to call it a day as far as hammering and sawing work goes but we are all
ready to spend our first night afloat. ( No proper bed yet but an 11" thick
mattress topped off with a 2" memory foam topper will suffice)
The fridge and freezer work so we hit the ready meals section in the local
supermarket bearing in mind that our means of cooking extends to a microwave
and a single camping burner and a toaster!Tomorrow sees us over cleaning up
\the caravan ready for it to be collected by the purchasers and Tuesday will
be wash day! ( Isn't it sad when you have to buy new undies and socks
because you have run out LOL......)Wednesday we will attempt to finish the
electrics and get the holes drilled for the water outlets and perhaps we can
then get rid of the camping loo! ( Bucket and chuck-it has been used I
promise!!)
The sign writer will start with his work later this week and the bath will
be in situ if not plumbed in.......... Friday is our 28th wedding
anniversary and we are going out for a meal. Sunday we are off to our son,
DIL and grandsons for another celebratory meal so we fully booked up for the
next few days. Mind you, we are looking forward to Christmas Eve when we are
taking our 2 grandsons to see Santa on the Santa Steam Special! That should
be quite nice seeing as the little chaps have no idea we are going to be
taking them out for the day! Sorry if I have bored the pants off you. Can
only make the compie every so often because of the work.
Till next time,
Regards ConnieD

I for one am not the slightest bit bored. I still don't remember what
childhood reading gave me a passion for the narrow boats, but I just love
reading about yours.

Never. Jealous maybe but not bored. It sounds like you guys are going to have
fun living on board.
