Dear Gentle Folks,
Some of you will remember that I've been having tests run for several monthes
now. Over the Thanksgiving break, I had exploratory surgery. Yesterday, the
doctor gave me the report and refered me to a specialist. I have "focal tibia"
(correct word and spelling?) which means that my cells are being to change.
There are two different treatments but he did not want to make the decision.
Surgery works permanently but due to other factors I would end up with
infections in the legs and bloodclots. Medicine (hormones) would require
biopsies every three monthes but those cannot be done in the office on me.
(funny plumbing) So the choices stink! But my request for prayer would be for
wisdom for the specialist!
thank you
love to all,
Vickie B.

You have those prayers and a Ooooh my,,,, I thought that having RA and TB
was bad. I do not even start to understand your problems but that is OK,
I hope your doctors do and that they do their best to take care of you.

Hi Vickie,
I couldn't find any information on "focal tibia" but it sounds like a leg or
bone marrow problem, is that correct?
Sending Good Thoughts,

No, I had the word wrong. It's Focal Atypia. I was previously listening to
the doctor. But I read the pathologist report for myself.

hmmmm, "atypia" was also the path results of the moles I had removed from my
back, 3 years ago (when we had 100% coverage for it, and because I couldn't
see them to watch what was happening to them). That part at least must be
some "generic" name for cells that aren't doing exactly what they should.

That is one of the confusing medical terms used on my wife Sarah's pathology
report this past June. Sarah was diagnosed with first stage uterine cancer.
I found this breast cancer web site that explains many medical terms.
http://www.susanlovemd.org/faq/atypia-hyperplasia/atypia_1.html
She tells what Focal atypia means in relation to breast biopsy & Sarah's doctor
explained to us that the definition applies to cells from any area of the body.
